Question about full exhaust instalation

So I got my full Yoshimura exhaust in the mail recently, and when checking it out I saw that there wasn't a clamp to hold the headers to the midpipe/can together. They go together fairly well, but they've got to be tighter, right? What would y'all sugest? I'm thinking about using a copper based sealant on them, then sliding them together thus bonding them together.

Is this a good idea? Are there any other alternatives? Ideas?

There's usually a spring of some sort that connects to a small barb/flange on each half of the exhaust that pulls the two together.  I am missing that spring on my V&H system and don't have any problems with leaks or rattles.  If the pipes fit reasonably tightly you shouldn't need to use a sealant.

If you do use a sealant, use something that can be broken relatively easily, or taking the pipes off the bike in the future could be a royal pain.

The Yosh doesn't have a thing for a spring, and it doesn't look like a clamp was ever there. The pipes fit, but it isn't very difficult to make them rotate about. What type of sealants would you suggest?

Don't use anything.
Once it's bolted on nothing will rotate. Put the header pipe on first, the slide the muffler on and bolt it to the bracket. The connection will tighten with rust and carbon over time anyway. You'll be glad if you can get the muffler off later if you needed to change it for some reason. ;)

I have read before that carbon & time will seal any gap in the fitting  :thumb:

did you get the rs-3? If yes there should be 2 clamps holding the can to the pipe

Alphamazing

No, I don't believe I got the RS-3. I think I'm just going to mount it up and see how it goes.
