I was hurrying to school this morning, although I still came to a full stop at each stop sign, which I think lead to the reason for the topic. Anyways, on my take off I accelarated quite hard and the most untimely thing happened, I had a striking pain in the back of my left hand causing me to drop the clutch, just a reaction, couldn't help it. My revs were up good and high but I had barely started to move so this resulted in my front wheel comin up high, and holy crap did it ever scare me  :?  High for me of course is like a meter but I was still shaking when I got to school a few minutes later. It was scarey but in a squidly way kinda cool haha. Not thinking about trying it again any time soon though, I was able to ride it out and luckily there was no traffic or pedestrians around. Maybe in a parking lot in the distant future but this newb has had his deadly thrill for this season.

I had a cramp in the left hand once while starting from a stop into a right-hand turn.  I popped the clutch pretty suddenly.  It felt like the wheel was threatening to come up, which would have been bad (hard lean + turn).
You cannot escape our master plan!

That definately would have turned out badly, atleast I was going straight... Have you tried it purposely since?

I had a similar situation...  Except the pain wasn't in my hand...  It was in the car next to me.

hmmm my new zx6r wheelies like a madman in 1st...  and in 2nd if WOT, and clutch it up in 3rd EASY, 4th if TRYING.

course... can't clutch it up in 5th... but @ 100++++ what do you want?

I never attempted a wheelie on my GS.  If you want to wheelie== bigger bike.  I REALLY miss my GS  :(

Narcissus

I tried to do it purposly the last couple of days but the bike sounds pretty damn loud reving at 9k(suggested revs), I don't have the balls to drop the clutch at those revs haha, I do it at 5-6k and I just get a good jerk from it. The only other guy at my school with a bike has a ZX-6R, I bet he does em all the friggin time haha.

I haven't attempted any wheelies either.  The bike doesn't feel like its strong enough to do it without a concerted effort.  I also don't want to drop it (if nothing else but to prove all you folks wrong who say that bike drops are inevitable when learning).

I'm looking around for someone who has a dirtbike that'll let me practice wheelies on that, atleast I can drop it and not feel like a moron.

with that larger rear sprocket (amongst the other that came w/ the bike) it felt like I could have easily clutched it up.

GS motors are not good for wheelies...  all the oil drains to the back.. air cooled motor+no oil==BAD.  Not to mention you can mess up the chain adjusting plates since they're so stupidly thin.
