Hey, maybe it's better to find out up front.

As far as side vs. center - maybe aj meant it in terms of the center stand not being something that the sitter-on-er would accidentally take the bike off of.  I wouldn't park the bike on the center stand and leave it there, but if someone of not excessive weight wants to sit on your bike, the center stand makes sense.  I have to really make an effort to get the bike down when I'm sitting on it; a gal is not going to get it off of the center stand just sitting on it and fooling around, while you can easily get it off of the side stand and... oops...

jomei

I would have said..

No habla englas? im just playing...

Sit on it? 8) You can sit on. this here... I mean.. you can sit on the back.. want to take a quick spin? No helmet? Ah, I can fix that for you. Fsck up your hair? Thats too bad.  No gear.. no ride.. Take a hike. Wait wait. I did not really mean that. Yea, I joke around.. You live around here? Ah, me too.. well.. obviously hehe.. yea.. no no the weather is nice... ok.. well.. let me see I kind of have to get back to this before 3:00.. I have a meeting with the govenor.. uhm.. who? yea.. the govenor.. you know.. arnie.. yea yea.. it is just this little thing.. he invites me over sometimes and we hang out..  not that I agree with his policies at all mind you.. I always tell him look man.. you need to do this.. and you need to do that.. what? oh.. ok.. yea.. sorry.. what was your name again? ah.. I am jomei.. you want a beer? I have a full bar inside.. I can make a rum and coke.. we can do a shot of .. hold on.. you ARE 21 right? No really! I thought you were 18-19.. 27?! Get out of here. You do not look a day over 20.. does that run in your family? got a sister? younger huh? ah.. she must look like she is 14 then.. well Ill tell you what later on my friends and I are going out for a drink, if you would like to come, feel free. If not.. then I will see you around here. nah.. I never ride and drink.. noone is scraping me off the road cause of stupidity like that on my part... yea.. helmets are important.. Check out this scar too.. yea.. wha?.. the gym? naah.. I'm just built this way I guess. My sixpack is fading a bit though. Really? that much huh? No way.. I thought it was fading. you are too kind, and here I was all worried about it. flexing? no..  not at all... it is just hard like that... sorry I am so sweaty but it is kind of hot out here. Whew.. I should take off my shirt anyway.. hey.. can you hit me with that hose overthere really quick? For sure, no way.. it is blazing out here. whaah.. thanks.. I needed that.. so... I was thinking of getting a tattoo here.. right here on my bicep... sure it hurts a little.. but that is no big thing...

I let this girl, who said she had ridden bikes before, take my CBR with freshly-painted-and-installed-to-impress-bodywork for a ride. She stalled and dropped it.
Twice.

She is now my wife.

Quote from: TarzanBoyDude.... what are you talking about?  The side stand is WAY more stable than the centerstand.

Not always... I have found it depends a whole bunch on the rear tire height and the kind of shock...

Thanks- RG& Stephan,
That is exactly what I meant.  THe centerstand is way more stable for a use such as a girl just sitting on the bike.  Just like Rg I have to make a very consentrated effort to get my bike off the centerstand and that is knowing exactly how to do it.  This is not to mention the angle of the sidestand sucks.  Centerstand would not be a good idea if girl was like 300 pounds but then again I would be laughung my a$$ off at you for letting a hippo sit on your bike anyway.

That's not very nice  :o
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

LMFAO, I guess Luisfigo has a thing for BBW  :P  I dumped my bike 3 times in the first week that I had it but I haven't since. I get the feeling once I start letting people ride on the back with me that figure could change...

Semi-related, just found out today that the girls I work with (been working at the place for 2 wks now...) hopped on my bike yesterday while I was inside working, and took picts with a cam. phone.  Bike wasn't hurt/scratched at all, but I was kinda mad that 2 of them got on it without me knowing.  I'm gonna get a date with one of them when I work next though, so that'll probably make me forget about it.

I saw the cam. phone pict of her and she wasn't there today, I said, who is that HOTTIE!???? cuz I didn't really recognize her at first, then I realized who it was, and all the girls started laughing when I got all red.

Ah well, now she knows I think she's hot, so whatever...

Narcissus, how do you dump your bike that many times?   I let my 13 year old ride around for an hour yesterday for the first time and no dumps.
The only time  (thank GOD)  I ever dumped was on my DR650 on the dirt track.

Not all of us are as "special" as you. Hell, I dropped my '04 the first day I got it, and then it fell over at the end of a slow speed u-turn. Tiny fixable tank dings were the only thing other than my pride that was hurt.

I'm on two so far (1200 miles).  First was a centerstand related lack-of-proper-balance tragedy with the bike not moving or running that left some small reminders on the right side.

The second was a very low speed, full-lock turn in the driveway that just barely wasn't tight enough.  The front wheel went just off the edge of the asphault and didn't have enough momentum to keep it moving and get it back up on the driveway.  It tipped to the inside of the turn, on the left side.  This one was the bigger pride injury (as I was actually on the bike this time), but interestingly left no evidence that I could find on the motorcycle.

I'm sure I could have put my foot down and kept it up, but I was focused on whether or not the wheel had enough room...another inch and I would have been okay.

#1 First day I had it and I went out for a quick ride around my block and all was good until I cam into my steep driveway too fast, hit the big bump where the driveway meets the street, grabbed the front brakes hard, lost my balance and dumped it.

#2 Third day I had it I was trying to walk it across my sloped lawn and I was on the higher side so when I grabbed the front brake too hard it leaned too far for me to pull it back.

#3 Fourth day I came on the front brake too hard when I was trying to park infront of my house, it bottomed out and fell towards the curb. I put my foot out to try and save myself but my foot was too close to the bike to offer much psuhing power so I quickly pulled my leg out and laid it down on the curb.

Having said that I'm no longer a brake-happy newb and I haven't dumped it since. The GS came out of all those experiences with only some scratches on the handle bar ends, the mirrors and the pulse generator cover, I think thats what its called, but whatever it is it doesn't look like it says "Suzuki" on it anymore.

There's a through street that empties out pretty much right next to my house and offers a direct path to the highway...makes for a very quick shortcut through a tight, twisty, wooded street with nary a traffic light.  The problem is that on the side farthest from my house, it meets a cross street on a very steep slope and transitions very abruptly to flat ground.

I fear this intersection, and will gladly go the extra couple miles out of the way and suffer the traffic lights to not worry about it.  I have visions of hitting it too slow, too fast, leaned over, counter-weighted...all in all generally having a bad time of it.
