Bore on GS500?

What is the bore on it?  I know the site says 74mm, but my machinist said that the bore on the block looks like 78.8mm?

Something's not right, that's for sure.  The pistons I have fit it fine though?  I'm in the process of trying to get the sleeves honed.  I was told by Suzuki that it's 74.0mm bore with 1.5/1000" clearance (way to go zuki mixing imperial and metric like that).

Anyone have some insight on this?

dgyver

Stock is 74mm. The largest you can over bore the stock sleeves are 5mm which would be 79mm. It is possible that you have a set of 79's as they are stamped 78.8mm.

IRC   .002" was the clearance on the last bore I had done.
Common sense in not very common.
