Not only does is have insane-in-the-membrane performace, but it looks amazing, too! The interior is as luxurious (or even more so) than a Bentley or a RR!

Yeah...but no clutch!  Where's the fun in that?

A lot of the supercars are going that way (super-dooper computer controlled transmissions).  I saw a Lamborghini demo where they just tell it what gear you want it to be in (eventually) and it will make sure you get there.  Say you're heading down a straight at 150, but want to be in 3rd when you come up to the next turn, flip the paddle down until it says 3 (while you're still doing 150)...and as you slow it will drop down so that it's ready when you want it.  *Yawn* Boooorring.  :P

I suppose it's like the $1M+ Mercedes that came with a full time chauffeur as "standard equipment"?

I am curious to know what kind of tires they put on that thing.  I know that with some of the modified mercedes 6-liter v-12 SL600's (also automatic, and in the neighborhood of 600hp after "tweaks"), you can't just floor the accellerator or you'd eat through the rubber.

GeeP

That instrumentation looks about as readable as a blank page in the dark.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I think if you TRIED to work a clutch on this thing the car would burn through so many tires. Hell, the clutch would burn out in a week with all that power, I bet. Paddle shifters aren't THAT bad.

You would think vehicles like that would have absolutely amazing interiors, but the truth is that the more expensive the car is, the more likely it is to have been hand-built, and the more likely it is to have absolutely terrible fit and finish. Any Bentley or Rolls that I sat in or drove was just an utter disappointment. You would expect that stitching in the leather would actually not come undone so easily or panels on the door would fit right when you pay that much money, but no. The most consistently bad fit/finish on interiors has to go to Ferrari if you ask me. Probably been in a dozen or so and it's always a safe bet that something is ready to fall off inside when we get them straight from the factory or press. Now the Veryon we got in several months ago wont go into this category just yet because it was a pre-production vehicle with a lot of non-working parts, but I'm sure the production version will have the quality of any other hand-built interior. :thumb:

No doubt. :)  Pretty soon the only controls in cars like these will be a GPS and a "go" button....maybe a little tiller you use to get it in and out of the garage.

I dunno. Bugatti has been highly regarded for their quality of vehicle. These will be hand made, but since there is such a limited production of them (as opposed to Ferrari and Bentley) the time put into each one will be greater. There are only going to be about 30 of these made a year. The attention to detail will be far superior to the more "mass-produced" exotics and luxuries.

Someone I know (who owns a Ferrari) loves to point out, "You don't buy a Ferrari for the radio."

there was a quote from an executive with a British car company saying something to the effect of, "there are flaws that are acceptable in a $100,000 car that would not be acceptable in a $10,000 car."

I used to valet in college and I was parking this Ferrari and I picked up my buddy and we drove all around Chicago in it and even jumped it a time or two and we pulled back into the garage right before this kid got back to pick up daddy's car.   Put a lot of miles on it too.

Ha ha ha.  We were rollin' man!

Maybe. Like I said, it was a pre-production model I was in and it definitely felt like it wasn't ready for prime time. I'll stick with what I've experienced and assume it wont have the fit and finish a Honda Civic has.

That is true ... however I should say, in the recent few years they have greatly improved. In effect going to more machine assembled process in the more common cars ... In any case the cars rarely get driven enough to have anything better ...

That's what Ferris said to the garage attendant before bribing him to take good care of the car.
