Hey.. I had a pretty good idea. We should set up a wiki for gs500. It would be pretty good. We can have tips, how-to's, things of that nature.  As things are asked or added here on the forums, we can add them to the wiki and keep it building up. It could have model year specifications... etc...

I can set one up pretty easily if people are going to use it. Would not be hard. If anyone wants me to set it up and have John point the dns whereever I say, or if he wants to just host it himself.. give a yay or nay here so at least I know it is worth the time.

A wiki (pronounced: weekee[1]) is a web application that allows users to add content, as on an Internet forum, but also allows anyone to edit the content. The term Wiki also refers to the collaborative software used to create such a website (see Wiki software). Its a very effective way to exchange information through collaborative effort.

yeah that'll take to long, and too much effort.

Can we still discuss what kind of oil is best, how to rejet, and how fast the GS will go every 3 days. Cause the wiki might be too efficient and we would have to go do work or something.

what, you men to tell me that some of the topic's here are repetive? just becaue there are 42 pages of topics that mention K&N dosn't mean that they aren't all relitive.

JetSwing

you have to do some work to find the info you need.

i don't think we need a wiki but just better organized faqs. i don't think there are much more you can add to, for example, rejetting. like i said again...the info that are already on this site needs to be updated and organized.

+1 on some kind of organized information. If it were organized better, in say a FAQ or a WIKI, there wouldn't be so many people asking the same questions over and over, and the same people posting "how to use the search" over and over...

Bingo. If we actually had someone take the time and go through the archives and compile an informative FAQ then a lot of time and effort could be saved.

Dunno if you guys really understand what a wiki is. It will allow us to create an FAQ or whatever we want out of it. It will allow each and every one of us to contribute to the site and build, organize, and categorize. This way we can all contribute small tips, how-tos, full specifications, hyperlinks, pictures, rather then relying on John to maintain it.

You were saying that someone needs to go through and exctract all the old convos and make the FAQ bigger. With the wiki, every person can contribute. This makes spreads the workload out among each and every one of us. Instead of each page being static, each page is dynamic in the sense that if you want to edit and update a picture.. you just add a picture. If info is wrong.. you edit and change it. I will set one up and see if John will point a url at it. I will start using it. If you guys feel like using it.. cool.. if not.. then I will just keep building up the information in it for my own personal use.

:)

i think we all know what wiki is and how it works...there still is a potential to be a mess if everyone contributes. i realized that going through the faq. for example, there are so many combination of rejetting setup...so you'll have to come up with a way to organize/catagorize that.

besides wiki, i still think we need a better website. most people here, including myself, this gstwin.com = this forum
