Um...  Sure?

It's been about 8 years...     I'm sure someone smart will answer.   But, I know you can take rough, matte, or flat enamel and get it to shine.

You might just get two kinds (matte & gloss (since you'll need a few cans anyway)) and tape-n-spray...

You're best bet is to try out a test and see what happens...  But, I think leaving that metal bare isn't an option...  So...  Something needs to be done.

Not sure I understand why?  I see folks lovingly polish their bare metal aircraft spinners all the time.  If you own an airplane, that's just what you do on the weekends, I guess.

I guess if you're into that...  But, I highly doubt the GS wheels will resist corrosion in a meaningful way.

Clear coat will stave off the nasty little rust spots that will appear every time it rains...  Not to mention making cleaning chain lube and road tar about 1,000 time easier.

I believe you can sand blast it and polish it and have it cleared over ... my guy will do it ... just that the elbow grease is more than I wanna put in ...
But powder coat is fine and the center can be masked off and will that will stand up to powder coating heat.
Cool.

ok the painting and polishing is done. i repeat done!  i spent way too much time on that..  now i just need a solution for protective coat.  also what kind of metal is the wheel made from?  i thought aluminum alloy.. no rust.

RIP RICH! We'll miss you buddy!

If that is what it is... Aluminum goes gray and gets dull...  Clear coat would stop that.

i would leave it open, that way you just get it alittle polish when it gets dull.  if there is clearcoat on the it could chipped and let moisture in under it and cause spots that would be hard to get out.  seems easier to just polish it alittle every so often than to clear coat it and have it chip.

Yes...  Once you polish alum you have to keep it polished.  You can clear coat the painted center but clear coat on the polished lip will look like crap sooner than you think.
