It's kinda funny...  I was doing the same thing.  I bought a new jacket that's supposed to be 100% waterproof...  I wanted to test it out and see if it really is...

It didn't rain for two weeks...  I was starting to get mad that it wasn't raining.

It finally rained like hell...  Yup.  It really is 100% waterproof.

Where I live we don't 'winterize' our bikes. the worst we get is bad rain and strong winds. we don't get the crazy snowstorms like you do over there. :dunno:

Last year I put the bike away for the season right around, or a little after, Thanksgiving. This year I am going to have it put away a little sooner for non-weather reasons. Last year, I brought it out sometime in early April I believe.
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

I started riding again, after 34 years, in July, 2002. I've ridden at least once in every calendar month since then. Obviously much more in non Winter months. The last two Januaries I've only ridden once each - as the temps were below 0 Fahrenheit most of the time, and never got over about 20.

I won't ride unless the roads are clear of ice and snow. I don't worry about salt water from the melt: I just hose the bike down afterward. This has not caused a rust or corrosion problem as yet.

I don't know if I'm going to ride this Winter or not. I may put it up for the Winter in the next month or so.  But, I say that every year.
