Value question...I know it is subjective, but.....

Previous posts to my question on 13K being too many miles are great.

Assuming that the 1991 with 13K miles is cosmetically good (original paint looks very nice considering age), runs fine, but questionable maintenance....any idea what the value SHOULD be?  I understand this is highly subjective.

I think Davipu is low-balling a little, but what do I know.

Here is a number from my a$$  2300 max.

Honestly the less mods the better in a case like this.
Black '00  GS500E
Silver '02 Bandit 1200S

Finally got a good job.  Hooray me!!!

I still love beer.  Hooray me!!!

For a '91 that doesn't need anything to ride (tires are good, chain/sprockets are good, etc) w/ only 13k, I'd pay ~$1400 MAX... But, I'm cheap to a fault. Where in N. TX are you? If you're in DFW, maybe add a little, but if you're out in Amarillo, maybe even take off a little. It's all about demand. If you're in Lubbock around the Tech area, some college kid will pay $2k if it's pretty.

I think for a bike of that age how many miles it has covered is of little importance. More important is the general condition of the bike and if the engine runs smooth without smoke or funny noises.

Well.  I paid $1900 for an '89 with 12,xxx miles in pristine condition which had aftermarket exhaust, '04 tank tail & fairing, aftermarket clip-on tubes (slight bend to keep them from denting the tank at full turn), flush mounted signals, progressive springs (I think), along with a helmet and $350+ worth of extra accessories (extra tank-sold, extra front fender-sold, half a bottle of oil, spare clip-on tubes, case guards, 3 different manuals, and some matching rattle-can paint).

The only bad thing was that I had to replace the rear tire almost immediately.

13K is not too many miles if the owner has done an at least halfway decent job of keeping the maintenenace up to date.  My bike purrs better than my roommate's '95 VFR (for sale, by the way) cuz he only does the tires and the chain (its a honda, so it can easily deal with that level of neglect).

As for the price... this is where it gets tricky.  In my experience.... unlike cars, bike values do not bottom out by age alone until they have a lot of miles on them as well, or they are in some kind of poor condition.  The only time I have heard of people getting 'fair' blue book values for old bikes in good condition have been when buying and selling from family and/or friends.

My advice is to stick to your pricing.  If something comes along that is worth paying a little more than you'd originally planned then you'll know it.
Before I saw cheesy's bike, I had looked at a 2001 gs500... very well kept and bone stock.  The owner wasn't willing to take less than $2100 (i think i'd offered $1900 or $2000).  $100 is a kinda low value for a deal-breaker... but in retrospect, I am glad that I stuck to my guns.

If you're offering a fair price and the seller isn't hell-bent on squeezing every possible dollar out of the sale then just keep in touch with them and you'll probably be able to work something out.

I'm sure that cheesy could have waited and gotten $600 more for my bike than he got from me... just by how good it looked cosmetically.. (for the most part... sub $3000 bikes are selling like hotcakes out here in Atlanta)..  just my good luck that I lived close to his girlfriend, had the $$ available that week.... oh and he was ITCHING to get a 100+hp crotch-rocket

Good luck
