Katana Wheel Swap?

I have a guy that I work with that is selling the wheels off his 1991 Katana 750 and I would like to buy the rear wheel for a wheel swap on my 2001 GS500. Thing is every parts fiche I look at says the wheel from that model is a 3.5"x17", but he swears it's a 4" rear wheel. I believe him seeing as he has a 160 rear tire on it and it is not distorted, as it would be on a 3.5" wheel.

Anybody know if the 91 Kat 750 has a 3.5" or a 4" rear wheel. If it has the 4" as he states I am surely going to swap it. I've been told on this site that the Katana wheels from 89-97 are a direct bolt-on, so I'm hoping all I have to do is maybe make some new spacers.

Everyone, please let me know what you think.

THANKS, BigTwin

dgyver

89-97 Kat stock rear wheel is a 3.5". It could have been change by someone else to a 4" wheel during the 12 years of the bikes life. The wheel does have the size cast into it on one of the spokes.
Common sense in not very common.

THANKS, I will definately have to check on that.
