So, I installed an '05 GSXR can today...

need to paint it or something, and never mind the welds, they're ugly as  :nono:
Got the can for $20 and made the flange out of 5" square of 16g steel.  I used the stock midpipe, just chopped, cut and welded it into shape...
Started it up and it sounded pretty nice, haven't taken it for a ride yet (tomorrow)
Just over 20$, not bad?

What do ya think?

I think it looks good! Just clean up the welds like you say! Sound is more important to me, so let's hear some sound clips!  :thumb:  But good job, I like it.

I dig it. Looks a lot better with a "normal" sized can on. That's one complaint I have with the gs... even my V&H is small looking.

I wonder if you will have to rejet?

You shouldn't have to rejet just for a can. If you increase the header size then you would have to adjust jetting due to the increase in the exhaust tract. The can doesn't make a significant difference at all.

Thanks guys, didn't get a chance to clean it up or ride it today, and tomorrow is my b-day so that's doubtful too.  Looks like ill ride it on monday and maybe get to clean it up too...

Yea, I wasn't planning on rejetting it till I put my lunchbox filter in there...

Dig it man...  nice job.  Way to fangle.  You won't even notice the welds after you paint it with BBQ paint.  If you've got a grinder I might worry about it - otherwise it'll be fine with some paint.

Really good job man.

That's a 2005 GS500. That's the stock front fairing. He just took the lowers off to mess with the exhaust.

Yea, the lowers are back on...   Made it a lot easier to get the exhaust off and on, i had to do a lot of trips back and forth test fitting...

Thanks, I'm gonna take the grinder to it as soon as I get the time...

With a saw and a welder you should be able to get anything to work with anything...   :thumb:

But, yea, I assume the exhaust is the same for e's and f's, so it should work fine...

No, sorry.  I just kinda eye balled it and did a lot of test fitting and trips back and forth...    If I can do it, I'm sure you can...  good luck.  honestly, it was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be

All I used was a grinder with a cutting wheel and a grinding pad, a sharpie, welder and hex key to get the plastic and header off.   :thumb:

And I still haven't cleaned it up or painted it...    :o

EDIT:  I also took the center stand off, I figure I'll just bolt it up when I need it for maintenance
