You can ride vicariously through me if you want Pablo. You are, in fact, a big reason why I'm up there every weekend now. :thumb:

+1
my first REAL ride on Angeles Crest was a GSTwin group ride with Pablo leading....GET BETTER!!

Also, I rode up on the Crest yesterday(Sunday)...got up there around 1:30pm...i was waiting for the roads to dry up...and I had a GREAT ride...I didn't see a single cop til I was almost finished with my ride and coming back down the crest...I saw a few sv's, lot of bimmers, a couple sportbike groups, and some sprinkled cruisers in there, but no GS's...
I come up the crest, then take that left that leads you around to Upper Big Tujunga, then take that back to Angeles Hwy, and back down...
It's such a great ride...
as for level, I stay pretty consistent in the 50-60 area on most turns..riding by myself, just wanting to get home in one piece, but I'm always working on my lines, body position, really using the lean of my bike...especially now that I am getting more familiar with the roads, and which ones are descending radius, etc...
I have to say, I wasn't sure how the Crest would be that late in the day, but traffic was light..there weren't many other riders out (eased my worries about squids crossing double yellows into me)
and the road was clear and dry...

Quote from: leoJust wondering, but if those guys weren't latino, but just white guys would this thread be about bike security?  :dunno:
I make no distinction of race when it comes to criminals. Period.

Unfortunately in many societies today, there are those who want to polarize people according to color.  :(  If you reread my posts, you will notice there was nothing said about the color of skin. Our friend Soaring is a student and lives in a large city. Although the fellows that he met were probably OK, it is the peripheral contacts that often provide larcenous intrusion.

They may mention the bike to someone, who tells someone else, and so on. From that, some of them may come by to visit and see the bike thus providing more information to the field. Organized vehicle thieves or gangs don't care how they get their information. If there is a market for a vehicle or its parts, they will persue the target. Why do you think that bikes and cars in magazines usually have their tags covered or masked out?

Last year while in Cleveland, OH I stopped at a large dealership to look at bikes. On display was a pristine Honda RC30. It belonged to the parts manager. It was absolutely beautiful and nearly perfect. I asked if I could return and photograph it the next weekend. They said yes. When I returned and started setting up my tripod and camera, some other riders were watching me set up. They were white guys, I was a white guy, the parts manager was a white guy. I noticed them taking him aside and having intimate conversation. Prior to shooting, the owner said he was uncomfortable with me taking pictures that would show the rear of the bike with the license plate! One of the riders was a cop and told the owner that thieves track vehicles via the plates. Did I start complaining about discrimination? They didn't know me, of course not! They would have reacted the same regardless of the color of my skin. I replied, "No problem, why don't we cover the tag up with a piece of paper?"

I now have a nice set of RC30 pictures, several with the parts manager in them and his tag covered up. Everybody wins!

Let's not be so sensitive to skin color when it comes to motorcycle security.  :nono:

Thieves only see green (and I don't mean Kawasaki) or whatever the color of the base currency of the reader's country is.

Well. I thought I was being funny in my post, but you go boy.

It sounds like there's enough people going up to ACH every weekend to start a regular group ride up there. Maybe every two weeks or so. Whatever. I'm feeling a "Meet and Greet" post coming up.

Hurry up and tell your bones to work right, Pablo, because you're going so you can school us all up there. :thumb:
