Killed my chicken strips

Went on a gorgeous 250+ mile ride on Sunday. We started going along 2222 followed by a slow run on Lime Creek Road. We then went down 1431 to Marble Falls out to Park Road 4 where I killed the chickens. I went at a pace I've never felt comfortable at before, but my new Sport Demons are an AMAZING difference in performance. While doing this, I also discovered the benefits of hanging off. At the speeds we were going it was necessary in order to prevent lowsiding.

The Sport Demons handle on a level far superior to the stock bias-ply crap that's fitted to the wheels. It's as if you're riding on butter wrapped in duct tape. They allow side to side transferes that are far smoother than the floppy movements of the bias-plies. Their stickiness to the road is like when you superglue your hands together.

Absolutely wonderful. If you're running on the stock bias ply tires, I highly suggest you get a good pair of radials. The difference is like night and day. Even if you've still got good tread left I'd still suggest getting some.

...ANYWAYS.

After Park Road 4 we took 29 to Llano to eat at Cooper's Old-Fashioned Pit BBQ. After some of the best pork ribs I've ever had we did a nice relaxing ride down South 16 for some digestion time. Then we booked it on 473 (I was third in the pack on 473 and keeping up fairly well.) We then went on some road I don't remember the name of after Perdanales Falls, coming out on 12 for a short distance, followed by a jaunt down Hamilton's Pool Road to 71.

The ride was fantastic; absolutely fantastic. For being the smallest bike there (the next one was a Ninja 500) I was keeping up surprisingly well. I didn't think I was able to go that fast comfortably, but I guess things change, eh? There was me, the Ninja 500, an SV650 leading the pack, a TL1000S, my pop on his FZ1, an '05 SV650S. We had an RC-51 through Lime Creek and a late-30s guy on an R1. Fast crowd for the most part,  but very competent.

WTF

Don't I feel dumb?

Either way. They are SO much better than the stockers.

God damn. I feel dumb now. Maybe I'll go back and edit that to avoid looking as stupid as I do now.

I agree on all three points.

Nothing to feel dumb about, the latest sport  touring bias ply tires are reported to handle almost as good as the radials.  Besides, even the "experts" at MCN don't know the difference between bias and radial tires.  Their infamous GS500 vs Ninja 500 comparo said the GS had Battlax radials when the pics clearly show they were BT45 OEM tires.  I persued the issue with the author Fred Rau (sp?)  on their forum and he insisted to the end they were radials.  Just gotta love a guy and publication that can't admit a mistake.   :guns:

PS- I'm a former MCN subscriber now.

I dunno how I thought that. Maybe because they wern't shaped like a damn trapezoid like my old ones, and they were more rounded. Who knows.

It's 'cause they're better tires...  So, you figured they were the best.  :thumb:

Whatever...  You had a fun time riding...  Who cares what the tires are made out of...  At least you didn't say that 1980 was 15 years ago or something stupid like that. :nana:
