Yamaha maxim

Hey guys I know this is a  GS board but my dad is in a spot with his 82 750 maxim and we are trying to find any source for info and parts. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the links Davipu hopefully we can find some info.

The spot is one cylinder has lower compression then the others and it is not running right. He thinks it may have either a valve or head gasket issue and will need whatever to fix that. Also he is looking for some parts, guage cluster and other assorted things.

Did he ever consider piston rings?

One way to tell is to get it warmed up and while at idle, pull out the dipstick.  If the idle goes up, the rings are shot, too much blow by.  It wouldn't be shocking to have one side worse than the other.

OK almost certain ... valve adjustment ... These are tough ... GS'es are tough yea ... but a 82 maxim is a whole other league ...
Valve adjustment has my $$$ ...

check the valve clearence, the sims are simular to the GS500 and replaced in same mannor but with Diff tool.

The valve clearances on maxims are huge ... 70-90 thou for exhausts and 50-70 for intake if I remember ... a GS will freaking clack and rattle itself to bits if we set it that high ...
