hello

i have gs model 98` & i would like to know

if a carrier, one of gs model 01` will fit to my model 98`

i hope someone can help me ...

Well, the Suzuki OEM '89-'00 rear rack won't fit on an '01+... it would depend on the individual rack and how it attaches, though.

I made my own rack for the 97 GS and it has held up well for 80k miles carrying clothes and other light stuff in a soft bag.  It mounts only to the passanger grab handle and can be removed by removing the handle.

I bought the Suzuki rack for my 02 GS and tried it on the 97 to see why it wasn't ok'd for the older GSs.  It just touches the body side panels a bit and would probably work out if the panels were filed a bit for clearance.

I put a Givi E33 hard case on the factory rack on the 02 and it began cracking  the frame cross member where the rack or grab handle bolt on.  Friend noticed the case bouncing up and down more than before.  I braced the rack with some aluminum angles and it has been fine for over 20k miles since.  I like the bag mounted low on the Suzi rack better than the Givi racks that stick it up in the air.
