Help with Valves - Video and where to find my own shims

Alright.  Its time to adjust my valves and i'm going to do it myself, this weekend.

I don't have time to wait on the kit to be mailed (wherever it is), but nevertheless I am interested in seeing the video.  

If someone can point me to the video, I will make them available on CD and/or DVD to gstwin.com members (for the ~$1 cost of shipping and the ~$0.75 cost of the DVD-R)

In the meantime, where do I find shims?

once you figure out which ones you need, go talk to the guys in your local  dealer service department usualy if you know them they will swap you shim for shim, for donuts or beer. otherwise they charge like 6 bucks or so.  if you talk to the parts counter carnies then your going to get new shims for around 9 bucks each and usualy have to wait a week for them to come in. also I've had alot of good luck with BMW/Triumph shops for shims as alot of the brit bikes used the same 29.5 mm diamter shims. so they always had them instock.   as far as the vid. pm Kerry and see if he still has some more cd's, I know he's been putting off puttign it into a dvd format for a while so he will probably apriciate the help.  someone was hosting it on here for downloads, but I can't remember who. if you search for valve video  or omethign it'll come up.

talk to kerry, he is the owner director,producer,editor,key grip,food,costuming agent, vehicle wrangler of the GS500 valve adjustment movie. i have a copy of it and must other then a few key safety tips for newbs, is spot on what the whole book should be like,

yah i'd like to get a hold of that vid too....last time i checked with kerry he wasnt quite done with it. So its finished?

I'd be interested in the video too.  I saw in one of the past topics that there was a downloadable version, is it still available or do we contact someone about getting a CD copy?

I would be willing to host the file from my website if the size isn't too big.  I'm allowed 10 GB of data per day and currently use like a total of 1 MB...

you've got 5-6k at least between valve adjustments.  they were adjusted 700-800ish miles before I sold it to you... fyi..




if you need any help let me know.  I think I gave you the shim tool and a bunch of extra shims I bought.

You can buy a micrometer at harbor freight... there's one at bells ferry (exit 4) off 575
