I once heard an AC/DC tune as muzak.   I've also heard versions of songs that were practically muzak as they were and did not need to be remade in elevator format, such as Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind".
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

Longinus

This music is designed / chosen to keep customers on the premises.
Have you ever noticed that when someone is walking around and there is music  playing in the background the person will step with the beat.
Slower beat = Slower steps, meaning customer lingers around shopping center / department stores products longer so that they just might spot that extra purchase they may not have noticed if they were walking at a normal pace.
WARNING: Death may occur if taken seriously.

Wierdest I've heard in the supermarket was Ozzy.  Crazy Train.  Bizarre.

I don't know about you people, but when I go somewhere I know what I am getting, even if not the spot where it is. I walk as fast as I can getting there, and the out again. I have better things to do then hang out in a store. Plus you always see thoes other people that like hanging out in a store....
Signatures are displayed at the bottom of each BIKE or personal message. BBC code and WORKS may be used in your WELL.

:bs: I think it's kinda fun to go get a lawn chair from sporting goods, set it up in beer isle, crack open a few, and sit back to enjoy the muzak...  :dunno:  :bs:

It's true. I used to work in the local grocery store through high school and there were people that seemed to come in for hours at a time and just buy one thing, like they enjoyed hanging out there. A lot of these people were the old foagies of the neighborhood, too. I got to know a few of them pretty well, a lot of really nice people. Some people seemed to go there just to walk around the store. A lot. Mind boggling.

Unless you go into Abercrombie and Fitch or one ofthose similar stores in the mall.

BOOM CHH, BOOM CHH, BOOM CHH, BOOM BOOM BOOM CHH... It's like a dance club that also sells $100 designer belts  :P
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

Abercrombie isn't actually that bad...lol you think $100 belts are bad? You can't buy a pair of jeans in New Haven for less than $150, unless of course you go toward the ghetto and go into Family Dollar...I've been in stores that sell ridiculously priced clothing ($1000+) those aren't the places for me, I'd rather have a pair of cheap jeans and a tshirt. The music is those places is weird, from hip hop to classical, its crazy.

I'd rather have a pair of jeans that didn't fall apart.  Or a belt for that matter.  Even the expensive stuff is "cheap" these days.  I don't mind paying extra if that price tag actually comes with quality.  Case in point:  I have a number of Coach belts from way back.  Relatively expensive, but they last forever.  A while back I dropped some pounds, so I went back.  The quality was terrible, and felt flimsy and cheap (although they cost pretty much the same).  When I compared them, the old one said: "Hand made in Costa Rica"...the new one: "Made in China".  :x  You used to be able to get quality leather goods at Coach...now it doesn't seem like they carry anything actually made of leather.   :?

There are some good stations of Muzak, We usually have classical playing at the office but when I am working late on the servers I can put on Alt Rock or RocknRoll which the music is pretty good.

weaselnoze

i've been listening to musak for about an hour now.  its quite soothing along with malibu rum straight from the bottle
