My non-internet equipped friend has 2 GSes in his garage he's restoring, an '88 and pre-pro '89...Plus mine, that's 3 sets of those wonderful crashbars I need to buy.

No, you need 'em when you are a nood.  When you're not a nood, you'll stop dropping the bike at gas stations, so it wont' be as much of an issue.

Yeah.........I heard of a guy going a 110 mph on a Honda 450 (the black bomber) with these kinds of crash bars and one snapped and cut his leg slap-ass OFF!!!
