i've used the search function to check this out already, but i'm looking for a bit more information still.  when changing out the clutch, what parts should i be purchasing to replace the entire clutch.  from the looks of the parts fiche, there are several plates...are each of these sold separately?  also, what gaskets should i replace?

Well, it depends...If you are just replacing the fibre plates (these are usually replaced), then just the fiber plates, if the friction plates are warped (the metal ones) order those as well as new fiber plates; if one, or all, of the springs aren't within spec, replace those and lastly if the clutch basket is grooved, that will need to be replaced. In any case, you will definitely need a new casecover gasket.

thanks scratch.  basically i have to get in there and check it out to determine what i need.  i guess that won't be a big deal in the winter when the bike will just be huddled in a garage avoiding snow-bound roads.

Oh, and one more thing, you may not need the casecover gasket if, by some miracle (it happened to me), your original gasket comes off so nicely (I still kept the new one).

soak the fiber plates in clean motor before you put it back togather.   that way you wont have any dry plates.    that's what i do when i replace a clutch.    see ya

Dont forget to inspect the small needle roller thrust bearing on the end of the actuating rod.
