How big of a jerk am I for creating this thread?

Rather large.  You're a noob yourself, Danimal!

Meh, you didn't mean any harm.  A little harsh though.

Right on.  "NiceGuysFinishLast" is a nice kid, but gets in the way sometimes.

The "NiceGuysFinishLast" dude has got to stop threadjacking every stinking thread.  I have nothing against the kid, but it would be nice for him to show a little respect for the OP and elders by letting a few threads go without his random input.

Sit back, be quiet and you might learn something.

I mean this with all respect, I'm not trying to create enemies.  I just don't like tuning into my favorite current thread (usually something technical) to read 22 posts of him talking about being asian and cute.  Maybe he could just post in the "Odds n Ends" forum instead of infecting a post where people are giving legitimate technical information.

I don't think it is all his fault; I think most everyone is a little guilty of being chatty off-topic. I've done it. And it takes more than one post / poster to completely threadjack a discussion. So I don't think it is soley his fault  ;)

Since he is a complete noob, er nood, he is in an awkward stage. He does not have a lot of experience so he does not have a lot of technical information to offer, but he is past all of the initial questions one has before he begins riding. I think he is participating in the best way he knows how at the moment. And all anyone can do is their best.

However, it also would not hurt to take your advice and mellow out a little with the threadjacking. Perhaps in the post he could say something ore on-topic AND include his little blubs about being "cute" and 'asian' or whatever.

I dunno, I don't think you are being too harsh. Sometimes things have to be said, whether we like them or not :)

Threadjacking?! I had no idea such atrocities took place on this board!

Oh, did you guys see the Kings game the other day? I'm a huge fan, but how much did they suck major ass? Been doing so well and then they go put up a donut.

Oh, did you guys see anything interesting some out of the SEMA show this past week? I'm digging the idea of a hardtop Solstice, but the concept at the show was kinda fugly.

Oh, did you guys see this new Numark iDJ? Looks perfect for people who have been trying to mix iPods all this time. I think I'm sold.

Hijactivisim has a long and glorious tradition.  There is the subtle way of doing it, where you refer to the post but steer the direction elsewhere.  Then there is the blatant jack, where you just hop in and say something utterly unrelated.

And there is only one way to unjack:
"Ahem.  About that 3rd replacement of the auxiliary fleeble."

My hunch was right...Pandy is the biggest Post Whore!

um, I saw a bear.

Plus he told me that off topic chats are good for the pooping.

Wait, I might have been mistaken.

EDIT:
Ya, I was. He says if someone actually knows something, they will tell you. It doesn't bother anyone, but thoes who let it bother them, that there is extraneous ambient confabulation.

Yeah, me either. I talk all sorts of smack, and I dunno anything. Most people ignore my posts, though, so it doesn't seem to matter what I say anyway.  :P

I'm inclined to agree with you both, Phaedrus and Danimal. While it is slightly annoying to see most threads go awry and have useful information sometimes thrown in, it can also be noted that he does sometimes offer a useful nugged thrown in. He seems to be taking care of most of his noob questions beforehand.

Hey, thanks for the replies everyone.  I am by no means against threadjacking.  I am guilty of it on many occasions, and I enjoy joking around as much as the next guy.

Seriously, who voted that they want my digits?  Boo ya!  Hopefully you're a female, but I'll take what I can get.

When I first read that poll, I thought that was the option to chop off your fingers.
