I picked up my new '05 yesterday and rode it for the first time last night.  I love it already.  It's a beautiful bike (black & red).  It's comfortable.  It rides smoothly.

Halleluja!

 thats good. I wish mine would randomly stop being stupid, and work right. Then I could go on a first ride that didn't end in disappointment.

Welcome, enjoy the bike, get the best gear you can afford, don't forget HiViz. Ride within your capabilities, practice practice practice will stand you in good stead. :thumb:

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

I would also like to add to the "ride within your capabilities" statement. This includes when you are group riding; do NOT try to keep up with experienced riders if you are not yet experienced yourself. This can lead you to a world of trouble.

Like it has been said many times before: ride your own ride  8)

On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

:?  I'd have figured you'd be through yours by now.  You've had it, what, like a couple of days.

Foot tapping.  Impatience.  Break in taking too long.  Wanting to wind it up past 6k...yearning for the happy side of the tach.

That's my interpretation.

congrats older brother!  Enjoy the break-in, and ride safe.

Hhaahhahahahahahahahahaha. Freakin' awesome.

Yeah Justin, ride safe. That's the most important thing. And remember, gear is an ALL OF IT ALWAYS type of thing, NOT some of it sometimes type of thing. The heat of being in your gear is better than the heat of the asphalt rubbing against your skin. Hospitals are EXPENSIVE. Skin grafts are ugly and expensive. Hand injuries can impair you for life. Jacket. Gloves. Helmet. Good sturdy shoes. Jeans. Minimum. Always.

Congrats on the new bike.

I bought my 04 GS in early March and took my test on it in late June.  It is the first bike that I have owned and ridden the most.  I passed my test with a perfect score.

Good luck with the bike and get some gear and take it easy.   :thumb:  :thumb:

After the 3.5 weeks at the dealer for a head gasket leak, I finished breaking it in last Friday and really enjoy the ride now!   :)

Congrats on the bike.  Enjoy it, ride safe and ride in gear!!!

Thanks guys and gals.  I always wear my gear....even though no one around here even wears a helmet.

The break-in is kind of lame.  I only have about 100 miles.  I've been doing most of my practing in town.  It has been really windy lately so highway riding sucks.  The crosswinds scare me sometimes.  I did 10 miles of highway the other day and splatted 3 bugs on my helmet.  Do you guys have to wipe bug guts off your helmets every day?

No bugs, they died in the first frost of mid-october....

But in the summer time, yes, bug guts all over the place. My jacket still smells like mosquito innards.
