Hey all!
I just wanted to share my joy.... I took the (italian) driving license for motorbike this morning, I'm sooooooooo happy
Now the problem: this morning was very foggy here, I had to drive 40 km to go to the place where the driving test was.
It was a fu@###ng mess!! I wear glasses when I'm driving, I had to pull up the helmet shield because water was condensing on it, but same thing was happening to my glasses so.... And anyway it's no fun going around at 8 a.m. with your helmet open  :o
I have a new full-face helmet with anti-fog shield ( )
Question is: are the anti-fog products useful? Which product would you recommend me? Is there anything specific for glasses? I don't want to ruin them.
Thanks.

Congrats on the test!   :thumb:

I wear glasses too, so I feel your pain about the fogging.  I have found that Cat Crap works really well for defogging glasses.  It gets them really clean too.  It's good for glass or plastic lenses and doesn't hurt anti-relective coatings.  I have used it on my faceshield too, but don't think it works quite as well for that.  I am still looking for a good faceshield antifog.

Hope this helps...  :)

Congratulations on the license!

I too have been looking for a good anti-fog coating for my HJC shield but haven't had much luck. I got a bottle of "Extreme Rage Anti-Fog lens cleaner" from a paintball store, but it doesn't seem to do anything except make the visor all streaky. I've heard Fog-x works but Im not sure if its safe for helmets (polycarbonate, fumes etc).

Congrats on passing your test!!!  :thumb:

I usually wear contacts, but when I have to wear sunglasses under my faceshield, I've been lucky that my new helmet (Scorpion EX-400) is excellent at keeping the fog at bay.

My bf is having trouble with his shades getting foggy, though, so I'll be watching this thread!  :thumb:

I emailed my helmet company about Fog-x and they told me to stay away from it, actually they recommended to stay away from any anti-fog that was alcohol based.  Something about it breaking down the plastic on the visor making it more susceptible to cracking.  They recommended looking at paintball supply places as most paintball antifog is designed for plastic.  :dunno:

I wonder if anyone has tried rigging a paintball mask fan into their helmet?   :?

I find washing the visor and glasses using water and a tiny dab of dishwashing soap works wonders cutting down the formation of fog.  When the car starts fogging, wiping the windshield with crumpled newsprint does the trick...not sure if that's advisable on the plastics, though.

Sounds like they're referring to crazing.  Plexiglas and many acrylics are susceptible...many are treated to resist crazing, but alcohol can defeat the protection.  Avoid any solvents or alcohol.
