First time bike owner and the bike came with a dead battery. I've called Walmart, Autozone, Pepboys and none of them carry a battery for my bike. Where else could I pick up a battery? Thanks.

Someone didn't read the FAQ here in the forum or the one located at gstwin.variders.com  :P  Granted, both need some more information but this ought to give you a clue:

"The Yuasa part # for the stock battery is YB10L-B2.

GStwin member Srinath says you can purchase an equivalent battery (ES12BS) at Walmart." You could also go to Bike Bandit:

Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

Oh I go to a GS500 Battery store. I had to buy a battery for my KZ440 yesterday and I went to a KZ440 battery store for that. See the KZ400 battery store was closer to my house but they may have sold me the wrong battery. Yea ... I also had to buy KZ440 washing fluid to clean it. Then I had to refill the blinker fluid, and I decided to put in the GS500 synthetic blinker fluid ... and the blinker is now making a louder "CRRRRRRK" noise as opposed to the "crrrrrrk" noise it made before. So yea you dont want to buy stuff for a GS500 at non GS500 stores. Now we're lucky cos all years GS500's are the same. For my GSXR I have to buy stuff at 1990 GSXR 1100 stores only. Man that store is like 90,000 miles from my house ... bad ... But its close to my office ...  :thumb:
Cool.

Hey ... you got the exact opposite of the point ... Buy the damn ES12 battery and drop it in sideways ... You did exactly what I posted ... Oh yea ... you went to a GS500 dealer ... OK ...
Cool.

Too bad you didn't get a sealed glass mat battery.  They are cheaper than YUASA, more cranking amps, last longer, better in cold, spill proof and you don't have to add fluid.

Unfortunately you didn't get much help until it was too late.  Those liquid batteries cannot be returned.  Maybe this will help someone else.

I found that some of the companies do not have a replacement for the YB10L-B2 but they do have one for the YB10L-A2.  It is the same battery but just has the vent tube on the other side.  If you are buying a sealed battery it doesn't matter then because you don't have a vent tube.

There are various places that sell these batteries on-line.  I bought a replacement for my Katana from these guys.

ES12BS is the same sealed type ... dropping in sideways works like a charm ... just make sure the negative is down, and make sure the battery dont flop around too much ... add some sorta duct tape etc and make it fit tight ... and yea use that other 10LA 2 whatever battery ... available for 30 bucks at walmart ... you just keep the bike on centerstand ... acid vent on left = more acid spllage on side stand.
GSXR 1100 ... love to use davipu delivery service or R'gal delivery service ... but Beetle needs to come along for the ride too ...
Cool.

Sure sure ... but if the VW breaks down ... you're gonna have to pull it manually to NC ...   AKA ... dont bet your ass on a car that older than both of you put together ...

The appeal of Beetles was that, although they break down easily, they can be repaired with common kitchen appliances.

Well I should've posted mental age ... R'gal is 6 and Davipu is 4. So my GSXR and the Beetle are older than the 2 of you combined ...    ... BTW who ever gets the GSXR first is gonna go ... see ya sucker ... and ride off into the sunset ... leaving the VW guy/gal to die in the freaking plains. The GSXR will make the distance and do it quite rapidly at that ...
Cool.
