I guess this is today, too...

although it's a different today than the today my other today post was about.

I took the DR up to the Snoqualmie Summit see how it does on snow.  It does astonishingly well.  My Cortech CFCs were hitting their limit at freezing at 70mph; next time, I'll wear liners under them.

I came back and was nicely settled in with a latte and a book at Barnes and Noble when RVertigo asked me to go riding.  I wanted to finish my book...
A pregnant woman walked by and asked what bike I ride (my helmet was on the table in front of me). I told her, and she said she rides a Triumph, but is off of it for now - patting her stomach.

I went to Richmond Beach to get a pic of the sunset.  But for as lovely a day as it was, the clouds obscured any good sun colors.

how is to ride in teh snow on a dirt bike.. is it like sand riding?

i would be a bit afraid to ride in teh snow like that.. cleared roads i wouldnt mind.. but snowed in roads.. and no studs..

I'm used to the absence of studs...  :P  ;)

I dunno, I've never ridden in sand.  The rear end wants to come out when you start moving, and you have to be very, very, very gentle on the front brake (I did drop it once, and that was going down an icy hill and got a little too much front), but other than that, it dances around less than it does on the Montlake bridge in the rain (steel grating); I could keep my feet on the pegs while riding.

Jeeze that sounds freaky... Snow and motorcycles don't mix in my book. Sand riding, mud riding, yeah, that's alright. Snow? Insane.

And when that woman asked you what bike you rode, which one did you say?

I did say that the one I'm on right now is in front of the bookstore. ;)

I bet that does some fun rinkies  :thumb:
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

mmmmm snow....

Put me in that "OMG a motorcycle in snow" category. :o

So why did you get the DR?  How do you like it so far?  Really, the idea of being able to leave paved roads is very appealing to me.  But I've always kept "street bikes" and "dirt bikes" far apart in my head.

:o  :o  :o
I want to do that! That is awsome.
Hmm, anyone know of some tires for the old gs? ... hmm, maybe not. dang.
Nice pics again.

Now just figure out how to get your board or skis up there. ... maybe renting is the way of the biker.

Oh, and I think snow is better then a cleared path. I would be scared of black ice then. Or maybe just ice in general.

I wonder how fat you would need your tire to be to go into the deep stuff?...maybe just plow through it?  /ponders

those hills would be perfect for some pre season snowboarding warm ups. maybe you could mount a snowboard to the front wheel and then zip tie the brake lever shut. now that would be fun!!! and then when you get to the hills just take it off and go snowboarding!!! I like it.
Stealth GS parts include;carbon fiber headlight faring, chin spoiler,V&H full system,NHK steeringdamper, titan solo racetail,cbrF2 carbon fiber chainguard, proformance forksprings with emulators,SS front brake line, gsxr remote reservoir rear shock, pirelli sport demons,79mm pistons(555cc)-more to come

RVertigo

Well, according to the weather report, you can ride in the snow on the way home from work tomorrow. :o

And...  Yeah, my CFCs were pushed to their limit in the lowlands 'cause of my excess of laziness when it comes to actually getting some hand guards on the GS.
