Pine needles

Just a warning to all you all-season riders out there, now is the time when a lot of people drive up into our favorite mountain roads to cut down Christmas trees and then haul their trophys back down said mountain roads, dropping pine needles all over the road. So for two reasons, be careful riding this weekend, look out for flatlanders that are unfamiliar with the mountain roads they're on and the pine needles (and, leaves, and cold tar snakes, and damp, shaded areas...).
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

Thanks scratch, but here in Jersey, by the time the pine needles are out we can barely start our bikes b/c it's so cold!

Ditto on the warning, Scratch.  We've been dealing with this since early October when the leaves started turning colour.  Pine needles amoung the maple, oak and other deciduous trees.

But this is water under the bridge.  Riding season appears over for us near the 45th parallel, what with snow all over the place and temperatures not breaking 32F for over two weeks.  :(

good advice.

Also keep an eye out for pesky manhole covers, road grates and light rail tracks.  It can get a little squirrly after a light rain
