What does anyone recommend to lube rear chain? Is it better to wet lube or dry? Been told by a pal to try a Graphite based lube? Any suggestions. Thanks,Ken

I just use motor oil or any kind of o-ring chain lube

Another Maxima Wax user here... Started using it years ago on off-road bikes and has been excellent on the street & track bikes as well. Especially nice when chaining wheels a lot, much cleaner to handle.

Yep, oil and other liquid lubes sling crap everywhere and attract dirt... but some may like to spend quality time cleaning their bike.

Of the two wax or lube, I use the Maxima wax as well, I have noticed a lot of fine sand gets stuck to the wax but it is better because the lube can tend to hide stuff. Since I live in a warm and dry climate with a lot dust I clean and wax the chain every 500 miles, 600 hundred is recommended. I also use a grunge brush I got at cyclegear here in town. I dip a rag in kerosene and go to work stripping the old stuff away then dry and spray on the new stuff. I have heard of people run the bike in gear while doing the cleaning, very very dangerous, not a good idea. Cool take it easy Ken :thumb:

easy to lose fingers by doing that.  I know a friend who lost part of one of his fingers because of that EXACT issue.

That is wayy too common  :cookoo:

I use some type of chain wax and to clean it i got the foaming chain degreaser and just spray it on and hose it down- works great.

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone experienced or heard of a "Dry Lube" by the name of WURTH. Its available here in UK but I do not know what it is like. Sounds like it could be what I am looking for. Thanks again one and all. Ken.
