Hey all,

I have been gone a while on a contract job with no time to poke the forums. I looked around from time to time, but never posted back.

As it were, anything major happen since I was gone? Did gstwins.com move web hosts yet?

I picked up a new bike. Yamaha Seca.. was looking for a good cafe / street tracker project. The amount of duct-tape holding the thing together.. I would say that it is a good base to start with. Solid engine... oh.. only $150 too... as it were... but I can't wait to take the GS back out.

I rented a VFR8 while I was away. Nice ride. Super comfortable. Pretty heavy though. Little big for my tastes. I like my ride to be more nimble.

good to be back,

Jomei

Sheeot, I want to find the place where everyone is getting rat bikes for $100!

Oh, hi, welcome back.

Welcome back!

To summarize what happened while you where gone:
Pablo crashed (he already told ya).
Roadstergal has gone through 4 more bikes.
There's this new girl here running around blabbin' away about Purple Pansies (Pandy).
The Odds&Ends and Test areas have become overrun with post whores.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Pantablo:

Man, that sucks ass. Glad to know you are still with us. Best to you, heal up quick and get back out there. ;) Yep.. bike runs.. its rough.. but it is alive. Does not sound all that bad with the yosh exhaust either since it is an 82' 750cc four banger. I spent all last night (9:00pm, 9:00am) ripping off all the busted ass plastics and going over the entire electrical system. (FYI.. that SUCKS at 2:30am in by the light of streetlight.. in the 50 degree weather... with no manual, instead a multimeter, some labels and a notebook to work with..) I can SAFELY say, that the seca has HELLA more complicated electrical system then the GS. I really want to just totally rip everything out, and rig up a headlight, a tail light, some blinkers, and a big ass red button to start the thing. I had an acerbis diamond headlight laying around, so I threw that on.. its much better then the ducttaped junk that was held on before. No speedo... ripped that out when I was going over the wiring. Here is a pic.. its a monster. I am going to the hardware store later to get a piece of pipe to make some sweet easy sloping, low bars.

Scratch:

I would expect that from pandy and Roadstergal, good to know things dont change. ;) Postwhores are everywhere sadly.

ey  man, noone said that $150 is pretty. ;) It does run though. Like i said. it will be much better with a set of straight drag bars and a round headlight. I am going to chop the seat and put a cafe tail on it. After that, it will look pretty good.

yer quick today...

What is up with the tank mounted turnsignal on the 250 Ninja in the background?

I pulled off all the plastic because it went down the side of a canyon and was all mashed. Check out the previous post for the full pic. The bike is called mcnasty.

Just said fugit and screwed it in the fairing mounting holes there cause I need signals to be legal. I got out my tap set and drilled them to match the width of the bolts.

The bike has an acerbis blitz headlight on it now, and napoleon mirrors that I hacksawed from some other mirrors and bolted into the end of the bars where the barends go.

Cool.

The Seca looks good, too. Are the bolts missing on the lower triple?

Welcome back and the bike looks great for $150.  I just hope that the neighbors don't attack again....

nah, it just looks like it from the pic. ;) My phone is only 1.5 megapixel.

Natedawg: OH GOOD GOD you are not the only one. :) They may just, considering that I have FOUR bikes parked in the street now. :/ I will be moving soon though, so I figure that if I can get tandem parking, in a parking garage I will be set. ;D

That bike is only lightly modded. Lower bars, katana mastercylinder, custom made seat and sidepanels, custom tail. Here is what I have in mind for this bike.

Straight bars or clipons, low sitting round headlight (about level with the tank as in the picture),  cafe tail, or I will make something out of fiberglass or plastic that is kind of like the one in the pic. I will custom make a seat, and I am going to try and find an older BMW or CB tank because they are not sloped.

I figure about $200 and some elbo grease and it should look pretty good.
