holiday time at the workplace - we get these gift tubs from the various depts we support.

i'm such a nice boss (when i'm not berating my workers) i have them pick through the booty and i'll get something from what's leftover.

i hope no one touches the olives...

The place where I have my part time job... I've been told the company used to spend money for each store to have a holiday party.  Then they cut back, sent holiday cards to everyone.  Then a card to just the store.  Then a holiday voicemail.  Now, this year, the whole store gets a measly candy/snack basket that must have cost 5 bucks, if the company didn't source it from one of their other divisions!

Yeah, we used to get a bunch of stuff from vendors and attorneys, but now because of "corporate ethics reform"  we can't accept any of it, or in the case of food baskets and such we have to share it with everyone in the company basically.  It has to be put in a central area where anyone who walks by can take stuff.  We usually take all the good stuff out and throw the junk in the basket and set it in the hall.

I can remember a time when my office would be awash with Scotch-Brandy-Rum-Beer-Vino etc, but the wonderful world of PC has finished all that.... :dunno:

The company I work for is actually one out of five companies that are owned by the same people.  Our plant alone has an improvements budget of 1.2 million and has about 120 employees between all three shifts.  They furnish the ham and turkey for our holiday whateveryoucallit.  They want the employees to bring whatever else.  Pretty cheap in my opinion.
