I know that there are lots of threads on engine mods and big bore engines...but all those are by ppl who knows what they are doing...

I'm a COMPLETE newbie when it comes to engines...and definitely won't be able to do any mods without serious help...so this is my plan

will i be able to take the engine completely apart and then send pieces to people to be bored, timed, ported, and everything else I need?

shipping an engine is too expensive...and no one can do it near my area...

will this be a cheaper way of doing it?

how much do you plan on spending.... complete bike + mods?

if $ is less than a used F2/3 have fun
if $ > than a used F2/3 .... sell GS... buy a used F2/3
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

i can afford a new bike...just not the insurance...

insurance on GS = ~1500CDN
insurance on sport bike = ~3000CDN

There is a plus and a minus to going the route.  The plus is that, as you say, the insurance is cheaper, because they think you have a GS.  The miuns is that if the bike is stolen or wrecked, you will only get the value of a regular GS.  And if you add on the value of the nifty bits, it may raise the insurance more than you'd be happy with.  Just a thought.

true that!!! accept I think its more like
insurance on the baby G = ~$1500CDN
insurance on a 6'er sport bike = ~$5000CDN :o

but your very rong about there being no one in your area who can do the mods you need. I live in toronto too and theres lots of places who can do what you need. I'm doing a big bore on my GS this winter as well. I might be able to get us a deal on boreing both of our cylender's out if we do them at the same time. let me know
