I think I found my new bike...

It's called the Boxer SSR, and it's only a concept model, but oh what a concept it is!

Supersport (SS) and Roadster (R) are the two ways you can have this bike. Two bikes in one package? I'll take two! It uses a French Rotax engine that puts out ~125 HP in a trellis frame. The latest issue of Motorcycle Consumer News gave it the once over, and they like it as much as I do. You are supposed to be able to transform this thing from fully faired sportbike into an edgy naked bike in under an hour. Claimed dry weight is 380lbs, I think.

100cc V-twin, oil and battery in swingarm.  Hence the huge hurking swingarm.

Thats hot.

100cc or 1000cc?

Imported to US?  Cost?

Thanks.

The fully faired model's forks look raked out.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

The faired has Ohlins forks and different wheels in the concept pics, ja.

Roadstergal

The faired has lower clipons, too, but the press release said that's one of the parts of the one-hour changeover.  Forks and wheels would take longer, though...

Forks ya; rims are the same, just different colors.

Just the angle of the bike, I bet.

One hour change over: Bars, seat, fairing. That's all I think. That should take about an hour, depending on how quick you are.

And I think it's 1000cc, not 100cc.  :P

Cost: Probably a lot
Imported to the US: Not with our luck in getting cool bikes

Jazzzzz

Assuming that bike ever gets made, there's no way they'll import it to the US (unless another firm buys the design and produces it).  Damn shame too, looks like a very sweet bike.

Roadstergal

My bad, typo.

I read somewhere that they're only going to make 300 or so?  If they come to the US, it'll only be via a private party with money and time to spare to bring one in for him/herself.

The Buddha

Yea Its freeench ... vereeeee freeench ... Only problem is ... if you're riding it and it comes up on a BMW ... it will surrender ... and That in itself may not be that bad, but it will also surrender to a german shepherd, german town and bratwurst ... yes nothing as embarrassing as surrendering to a bratwurst ... especially if you lprefer anchovies to sausage ...
Cool.

I'm still trying to get my Skyline through customs.

If I had that kind of money, I'd be on an Aprilia SXV 4.5 by now.

Jake D

They are giving away new old stock 2004 and 2005 Aprillas here in KC.

You can get a zero mile Mille for like $11,000.   What are they, like $19k new?

Edit:

Por exemplo:

Almost seems a shame not to run out and get it.

This past summer, Moto International uncrated some bikes that had been sitting around - they had brand-new, untitled RSVs for thousands off.  But I don't want a liter bike.  The RSVs are heavy...

Jake D

Yeah, but did you see that thing?  Good god!  OZ wheels, Ohlins.  for under 12K??

Seems like you could flip it.  Dunno.

One hour?! Screw that! Besides, the front of the naked look reminds me of that robot from the movie Short Circuit. "Johnny 5 is alive!"
Me fail english? That's unpossible!
