Ever been accused?

The other day I'm driving to work and I catch a friend of mine out in his garage beside his bike.  This guy decided all of a sudden that he wanted a bike and he'd always wanted a harley...so he just goes and gets one.  Shortly after he was going to pass a grain truck and the idiot didn't tarp his load.  A wind hit at the right time and scatterned corn all over the asphault.  Not having the experience needed to handle the situation he lowsided.  He sprained his elbow, I think, and broke a peg and the brake lever (and the windshield but who needs one of those?).

Anyway, he's out there tinkering and I hadn't got a chance to really check his bike out (new black sportster) so, naturally, I stopped.  Hes trying to find a way to get a charger on it because he accidently left the key on so I show him the best places to hook up.  Then I ask if he's going to ride any that very nice christmas day.  He says no, that he's probably not going to be doing any more riding until spring.  I said I didn't understand how he could do that.  His reply was original...to me:

"Well it's a bit chilly anymore and I'm not a real biker like you."

Made me feel somewhat respectable...or good...or something...sure made me feel like I was cool.

Tripping on my shoelaces on my way back to the truck fixed that, though.

JakeD-getting your nipple pierced is not crazy. Killing a drifter to get an errection? Now that's crazy!

Ignore those people about the helmet.  You get more respect when you do anyway.  Connecticuit doesn't have a helmet law, and people who don't wear helmets are referred to as "Organ Donors" (Probably the same everywhere)

Besides...  I wear my helmet to meet girls...

This way, they can't see my ugly mug.

I teach here at the school of nursing and all the trauma and er nurses call them motordonors or cadavercycles.  Since the PA helmet law went into effect in September of 04, there's been no shortage of good, pink organs in pittsburgh according to them.

There's no helmet law here in AZ but I always wear one and my joe rocket one-time-crash mesh jacket.  The no helmet guys think us safety minded guys are ghey but who cares what they think.

At least we have a better chance of being able to think after a crash, unlike the hardcore organ donors.

Kansas (which is a state very near Kansas City, Missouri) has no helmet law.  Pretty much nobody wears one in KS.  Even guys on sport bikes don't wear 'em.
I think that is pretty crazy.  But I've never heard that KS has a higher mortality rate than MO.  Seems like it never gets brought up at all around here.
I hope to be a real biker this weekend.  It may get close to 60 degrees.

Alphamazing

I've been accused of being crazy simply for the fact that I ride. I've also been called crazy because I've crashed hard and still wanted to ride afterwards. Now given, these are non-riders; they just don't understand how awesome motorcycles are, I guess.
