AlphaSports (Hyosung) GT250 rear wheel

This was noted earlier when the bike was introduced, but this little 250cc GS replica is using a 150 rear tire. The rim on some of them even looks like a GS rim. Has anyone gotten their hands on one of the rear wheels yet? Searching didn't reveal anything, so I'm assuming not. If I can find one of these for cheap, I might try doing a rear wheel swap.

This is another option instead of using a Bandit 400 wheel or a GSX-R wheel with cutting and machining of parts. Hell, this one might be a direct swap in for ours due to the similarities between the two bikes. Anyone know where I might be able to find one for cheap?

Good luck finding one at all, there aren't a whole lot of those bikes around!

you can buy a new gt250, swap the wheel, then, return it. maybe they won't notice...

Outside of the looks it's not going to be worth it...mainly because of the cost of something rare.  Beside that, they're a low quality fab...casting marks are hand-filed, if filed, and they have a really rough finnish. I do like those 6 spokes, though...one of the few reason I want a GT650.

You've SEEN one? I don't know of any place around here that even has one. The six spokes do look pretty good, though. Maybe if I got a set of those...

yeah I've seen a few...well, all of them, actually.  I really like the GT650R...excellent lookin' bike, but obvious asthetic details are neglected on them.

The wheels are the only thing I'd want off of them as "parts".  Maybe a faring set from one of the R's...but the wheels would look nice with some time invested in them.  3-spokes are so boring anymore...they've all got 3 spokes...

I want one just like this:

The forks on them are a great build-on part...inverted, even (sad that you can get a feature like that with a generic knock off, even on the 250, but not on the SV650... ).  Same basic SV suspension in the rear, though...suckage.  And it'd need different calipers...those 2-pots are actually singles with fogue 2-pot covers over them...

...of course, the 250cc twin thing is rather appealing.. 8)

theres a dealer right by my house.  I'll have to go check them out.

Hyosung is quietly getting bigger and bigger.  I bet in 5 to 10 years they will have a real presence in the US.  Leave it to the kings of copy to duplicate and improve the look of the gs500

I didn't think about how closely the 250 comet looked liek the GS500...

Creepy, huh? Buy a Comet chassis, drop a spare GS engine in there and bam, inverted forks, solo seat, removable passenger pegs, 150 rear tire, high-mount possible exhaust. Interesting bike indeed.

I can't seem to find a rear wheel from one though.

There's less than 150 o the GT250's on the road in the states.  You're not going to find a wheel, man...

Alphamazing

I just joined 2 Hyosung GT250 forums and put up some info on what I wanted to do. :) Hopefully I'll get a response back.

i've actually considered getting a gt250 because i like the look of them. IT'd be a great daily commuter for where I live. I could then turn the GS into an adventure tourer.  There's a dealer about 20 miles form here.

JakeD-getting your nipple pierced is not crazy. Killing a drifter to get an errection? Now that's crazy!

Find a Hoyosung/Alpha Sports dealer and have them look up the price of the rear wheel.
They should be able to order spare parts. How much it will cost and how long it will take to get it from the Great Patriotic Motherland is the real question.

that's the thing, I don't want to have to drop $400 on a new rear wheel (assuming it costs similar to the GS500 rear wheel new).

A guy on one of the GT250 boards said he had a bunch of spares that he uses for the track, and that if I could get the measurements of GS parts we could see if it would work.

So if anyone knows:
GS's rear axle size
chain offset
hub offset

Let me know. This could work...
