Yeah, I figured it was mostly a matter of getting to know her, so I'm not worried.

+1 (added exclamation points), Good story, too.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Ok, it wasn't so much a present.  Somewhere in there, I handed RG a hefty envelope full of cash.  I must have left that part out of hte story.

Wonderful write-up.  Thanks for sharing!  And the bike looks damn cool.. much better than it sounds.  If someone told me that they owned a baby blue GS, I probably wouldn't believe them.  But I really must admit that the bike looks great in the pictures.

Be safe and enjoy!

How big are davipu and RG in real life?

I picture them both being really little.

RG is really little.  She's not quite as short as my wife, but she's down there.  Dave is medium-tall. :)

RG is little.. like my size, which always made me happy, because it meant that I'd be able to ride a GS with a little modification, cuz I'm a short mofo. I'm 5'3, and I think I remember her saying she was slightly shorter than me. No idea on Davipu

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Cool story, first time I got my gs every straight line I saw I would hammer the throttle I couldn't believe how fast it was. My bike before was a honda cg125 so it was a big jump in power!!!

Congrats, and what a great story.  I like the color and the "shark fin" shaped design on the tank.  Enjoy!

I disagree with "the first ride is the best one" comment. Frankly, I was scared as hell my first ride, granted it was in fairly heavy traffic. For me, it only got better for about 500 miles. Also, I can relate to the "damn bikes are heavy" sentiment. The first time I tried to put the GS on the center stand it came down left (toward me), but I was able to force it back upright using the bars thanks to my brute strength. The only thing that touched the ground was the left peg.

Have fun though, it only gets easier and more fun from here on out. Just don't push your limits too soon.
