I have a picture of my bike...

The problem is, it's not a picture of my bike, just looks like it...   :nana:

I was too lazy to go outside and take a picture...  Come to think of it, I haven't taken ANY pictures of my first 2-wheeled baby.  I have plenty of pictures of my two Blazers and Cirrus...  Hmmm.... 8)

Pandy, are you referring to my super sexy avatar?  :dunno:

I don't think guys who like hot women and enjoy driving big trucks have a masculinity issue automatically, nor do they necessarily "lack something". That's an awful sweeping, generalization.

Fact is, things do not always need to be looked into and analyzed so deeply. Some guys just like hot naked girls. Sounds crazy, I know  :P

Alpha, don't ever lose the robot..

and I agree with Phae. Maybe because I'm from the "dirty souf", but I see a lot of guys with lifted trucks, not because they think it looks cool, but because they legitimately offroad them. I like big trucks.. (don't drive one), but I like them. One could make the assumption that because Mak collects bikes and fast cars, he has a masculinity issue, or maybe just a midlife crisis. But I wouldn't say that, because I don't know him. Making generalizations is bad!

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Haha.. well.. they're nice cars.. I haven't seen them, but based on your passion for restoring/innovating, I'd say they're in good shape, and pretty darn fast. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you do own a turboed RX-7, no? I love em, think they're beautiful... You should put pics of em up sometime.. You've got pics of the bikes, why not the cages too?

:(

My car projects tend to look like my bike projects...ratty.  The RX-7's are all being parted, too, which makes me cry.  The Turbo II I bought last August or so was a POS and I bought sight unseen because I'm apparently a trusting person.  I was going to restore it but I've decided to rip her apart, too...decided tonight, actually.:(

It'll go toward better things, though...and I always got the 328...which is fast enough for me on four.

Naw.....having a collection of cars or bikes (BOTH in this case) means that he wasn't breast fed enough, lacked that motherly comfort...now he seeks it in collections of things that go vroooom vrooooom.

This is just the dumbest thing.  I've mentioned my theory on this issue before.
If you assume that a guy with a big truck is compensating, then you better assume that a guy with a small, POS car has a huge member. Right?  See how stupid it is?
And don't get me started on the avatar thing.  Fact: guys like to look at women.  We like to think about women. We do it all the time.  We ride on an airplane and we scan the rows on the way back to our seat and we find the hottest woman on the plane.  We can't wait until the hot girl at the office arrives.  It puts a hop in our step.  We sit in a bar or cafe and we find the hottest waitress or customer in the place.  We spot all of the beauties and we mark them mentally by placing a Sims type diamond over their heads so when they get up to leave or go to the bathroom we can try to catch their eye and maybe get them to smile at us because it makes us feel good. It makes us feel like there is hope for this world yet.  Because hope can never be lost.  No matter how low we get, there is always the promise that we'll find a beautiful woman that will fall in love with us and drive us crazy and make our friends jealous and scratch our backs before we go to sleep at night and eat breakfast with us and wear low rise pants to a football game with us and make our lives complete.

I don't believe that you're ugly, so stop right there.  And remember beer. Beer has been helping ugly people have sex for hundreds of years.

So that's nice, right?

Fortunately, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and my bf doesn't puke at my likeness, nor does he need beer to....uh.... well....I don't *think* he does... who knows!?  :dunno:

But this is about naked avatars! The sense I've gotten so far in this thread is that when boys don't feel adequately cool, they pull out the most nekkid, what they consider hottest, chick to put up as their avatar so that others will think they're more cool... so it's to raise the cool-ness factor? I suppose one can draw parallels to the mid-life crisis red convertible purchase?  :thumb: So naked avatars = raised adequacy??

Your wrong.  I was trying to explain to you why guys do that but you missed it.  It doesn't make us feel cooler or raise our adequacy.

It is something we enjoy looking at.  It warms our spirit.  Stirs our blood.  Wakes us up.  Gets the blood moving.  Tugs at the cornes of our mouths and tightens our chest.

We don't do it to make "normal" girl feel bad or less worthy (and by the way, you would make a nice avatar, so you need not worry).
The world isn't always going to keep the playing field level.  You don't see guys like me in US Weekly, running around town with Paris Hilton.  I've accepted that.  But that doesn't mean I get all pissy when some guy that spends more time at the gym and eats better than me gets oggled by girls all the time.  Good for him.  Big ups.   Much respect.  I'm happy for him.  But I don't get pissed at girls for checking him out.  Its how it works!

Actually, I was commenting more broadly on comments made in the entire thread, beyond only your pearls of wisdom!   And I'm not telling anyone they're wrong to do it! I'm researching the sociological aspects of an interesting behaviour. If that makes MOI wrong, well...so be it!

Quote from: Jake DWe don't do it to make "normal" girl feel bad or less worthy
I've not accused boys of doing it maliciously, either. I find it an interesting phenomenon since it's so one-sided. One rarely finds girls posting avatars of well-hung, nekkid dudes, and it's a complete falsehood that females aren't visual creatures. We might not be *as* visually-oriented as the male half of our species, but many of us find that our blood can get just as warmed by a visual!

Quote from: Jake DBut that doesn't mean I get all pissy when some guy that spends more time at the gym and eats better than me gets oggled by girls all the time.
Who's getting pissy? Actually, I think there have been some interesting comments and some good humour in this thread. You're the only one I see getting pissy due to your assumptions about what's being said here!    :nana:

I'm not pissy.  Just defending my species.

I've never heard a hot chick complain about the objectification of women.

So it seemed odd coming from you.   :)
