The Philips X-treme power globes are actually much whiter than the stock globes.

You can get those Crystal White or Cool Blue stock wattage globes whose colour will match the LED's better.

Just be aware that these bulbs are usually coated with a blue tint to create the white look. Problem is this blue tint does cut down on the globes output somewhat.

After taking another look, and remembering when I bought the bike, I think the original owner put a sylvania silverstar or something like it in. The light is actually whiter than the parking light, so it might go well together.

ABSOLUTNATI

It's whiter than the stock parking light.

The X-treme Power globes I put in were much whiter than the stock globe I took out, but in comparison to the LED it is way off.

Unless your silverstars are a special white/blue light type they will still be far from as white as the LED.

Got them in!!! They look great!...One mishap though. When trying to get the bolts out of the black plastic housing covering the gauges, it stripped the metal post out of the white plastic underneath the gauge. What a poor design! I guess I'll try to use some epoxy to try and mount the metal post back on the gauge. Have any other suggestions?

CndnMax

I've seen a few people post about that, as i recall they used epoxy to hold it in.

Couldn't find anything on it, must not be very good at searching. :dunno_white:.

Count me in. This thread is very informative.
I got a dead bulb in my tach, but had no problem to replace it with LED.
Thanks, guys in this thread.

Now my tach and speedometer are much brighter.

I have had my 2nd LED front parking light burn out on my F model this summer.

Seems the LED's can't hack the heat of the stock globe (60watt) plus Australia's 40+ degrees Celcius summers.

CndnMax

they do tell u not to use them in headlight assemblies.

I want black ones to match my paint   :thumb:

Sweet! Like the stuntship from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Black lights against black backgrounds with black labels that light up black to tell you they're done something.

Yes, but those aim all of the light toward you, and for speedometer and tachometer you'd really like to aim the light in all directions. The WLED-B5 wide angle LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com fits tight, but works beautifully. While you're at it, you might as well replace them all (takes less than an hour), here's the shopping list for a complete replacement from superbrightleds.com:

(1) WLED-B-X 90 degree viewing angle : hi-beam indicator
(1) WLED-R6 red : oil pressure indicator
(2) WLED-G6 green : neutral & turn signal
(2) WLED-B5 wide angle blue : speedometer & tachometer lights

Hi, I bought the suggested LEDs several months ago but had directionality problems with the turn signal indicator (it only blinked for the LH turn signals). I probably bought the wrong bulb, I suppose. Which is the right one? Is there a way to get this one to work?

this is the bulb I bought from superbrightleds.com:

74-x Wedge Base LED bulb $ 1.19 (each)
Options:       White 74-W

if i remember correctly its because its a polarized light. you need a non polarized led for the turn signal indicator or it will only flash for either left or right not both you flip it and it switches which side works
