Does this look ratty to you?

Hi there,
My opinion is yes, that looks VERY rough.
The miles are low, but there is rust everywhere on fasteners.
There's rust on the rear shock near the shaft.
There's oil leaking all over the valve cover from the gasket.
The bike is not cheap enough for what it is.
Add $100 for a rear tire.
I'm sure it will need other costly things, like a chain due to poor maintenance.
I'd pass on this one.
This, to me, is a $300 GS500.
You can get  a better deal elsewhere.
Good luck,

If that isn't ratty, then I don't know what ratty is.   That is a ton of rust.

I have an '89 with 16Kmiles and it looks like this. . .

Many of the ancients believe that Jake D was made of solid stone.

yup I agree, this the kind of bike that you get for free (or a couple hundred bucks) if you are looking for a project bike.....and it seems like pretty involved project (unless you are looking at just getting it to run).....

It's pretty ratty and has clearly been abused...  But, not bad for a few hundred dollars...  It runs.

I wouldn't go very high on the price, but you're not going to find a sweet running and nice looking bike for $800...  If it runs well, who cares how it looks.

Jeppy

I think it looks like poop....I would offer 200 bucks and a case of beer.

makenzie71

she looks fine to me...my idea of ratty is pretty low, though...lol.

I wouldn't pay that much for it, though...$250~ish considring it's appearance.  It's a shame, the bike's probably solid.  20 minutes with a rattle-can and $200 worth of quick parts would make the bike look good.

The ebay page actually doesn't look all that bad at first glance but after seeing it close up it looks like more of a challenge.. hence the post here to see what you guys think is ratty!  :icon_mrgreen: :dunno_white:  Oh well... I'll keep on looking for another GS....

Jeppy

Honestly....it does not look like it was taken care of. I would hate to dump money into a bick and it just turns into a money pit.....

Remember.....no matter how many times you polish a terd it will always be a piece of shaZam!.

gsmetal

Yes, it looks ratty.

I would pay no more than $400.00 - especially this time of year.

You'll have an easy $600.00 worth of work to it.

I would pass on it.

A bike's appearence is often a reflection as to how it was taken care of.

not junk...its obviously been stored outside at one point.  someone went buckwild with a can of black spraypaint.  if it has a clean title, $400-500 seems fair to me  :thumb:

I think $800 is fine if it actually runs as well as the guy says...  You can't find much of a bike for $800.

Note to self; cancel the blue rims...
Don't blame me !!  I live in a world of bad examples...
