Improving the mirrors on the GS500E

Recently I've had a few close calls when I'd start changing lanes and not see a truck flying through my blindspot..
I've adjusted the stock mirrors (1991 E), but it just doesn't seem sufficient.
I really like the setup on the Fs, where the mirrors are mounted to the fairings, so they're farther in front. That way you have to turn your head less.
I think they're alslo convex and just bigger for a better view.
Is there anyway to mount a similar setup on an E? Or maybe just improve it somehow?

Bikes that have mirrors mounted on the fairings have a subframe or brace that the bolt to through the fairing.  You can try and find one of those and a matching set of mirrors, but good luck with mounting propperly.

You can also look into mirrors for naked bikes.  The ones on teh SV's are actually quite good.

you use you them ? i'm not a fan of them i always look even if  it looks clear i still look . thats the only way you can be sure . you never know whats there . IMO there nice just to see whats coming . but if you plan one making a lane change use your own two eyes . look back and check .

Don't worry about the mirrors, get into the habit of shoulder checking every time you make a lane change.

I'm going to put one tiny little mirror on (just to keep me legal) because I've taught myself to not trust the mirrors and ALWAYS shoulder check. Its one of those things that they teach at the motorcycle safety course and I made sure stuck with me.

Also, always shoulder check when starting from a stop. I guarantee that will save your life one day.

That's good advice, there.
I almost always shoulder check and look behind me. But I think I actualy spend too much time looking around.
Taking my eyes of the road in front of me is always a risk. I'd like to minimize that.
I was hoping there might be some suitable aftermarket mirrors available.
Also, I've got a small headlight cowling, maybe there's a way to drill that and mount mirrors there?

Suzuki SV650 mirrors look nice. Search for my thread on them, as it includes pictures!

with my broad sholders, i could never see behind me very well, so i put on a set of bar end mirrors, an they work great, jus make sure an get a quality set, as i bought a cheap set off ebay an had to rework them.

I use the mirrors all the time so that I know what is around me and coming up. I still look over my shoulder when changing lanes, just to be sure.I was looking for some different mirrors also. I found some vibrating reducing mounts from JCWhitney that didn't help at all. Lost $3 bucks shipping them back.  Oh well, I just try to not keep the rev @ 5000 so I can see what is in the mirrors
