So I was just perusing the Suzuki site dreaming about my Hayabusa limited...then when I realized I couldn't spring for 11.3 grand, I looked at my other dream bike the GSXR-750 - in anniversary colors no less.. whoa...gottahabit.

Anyone care to note the weight?

GS500F    - 396.8lbs
GSXR-750 - 361lbs for the California model.

35 lbs lighter..... and who knows how much more power..  I think I have some sort of bike envy now...

I wonder if they make lightweight grips for the GS...

I don't think grips will get you down there...lol.

The gix is about 30 years newer than the GS...can't help but be lighter.

Alot of the weight is in the steel vs. aluminum frame and swingarm.
Ah progress... :dunno_white:

If you take out that big thing with fins in the bottom front, you would gain a ton of weight loss vs that other bike. It's not doing much anyway.. just putt'n you around right?

Has any1 here ever ridden a GSXR b4?

I was on a slightly lowered 2005 gixxer600 and it weighs just over 350lbs i beleive...man it feels so light and nimble when putting out over 100hp to the rear wheel  :icon_mrgreen: . I love it one of the best bikes ive ever been on.

I will def be upgrading to one by the end of next year!

My one cousin has a 05' gixxer 1000 and another has the 750...The 1K is a little too much bike for me and i dont feel confortable sitting on it.

Havent tried the 750 yet.

I know for a fact that the newer SUZUKI speed demon machines are made from [ UNOBTANIUM ] for the most part metal utilized from crashed UFO s ! Ya gits what ya pay for. Remember there is only one speed limit after that you pay the man.

Have you looked at all the places where they have shaved weight?
Like the bolts for the shock linkage have been drilled though.

The last GSXR I rode was my 2000 750. Did not care for it that much. Actually it was a disappointment from all the hype it got in the rags, on the track it may have been a whole other story.
Common sense in not very common.

ridden 2 GSXR's in my time, an 88 GSXR750 with the triangle taillight, and a 93 600 i believe.   that 750 just seemed imtimidating as hell, the 600 seemed kinda fat.
Accelerate like your being chased, Corner like you mean it, Brake as if you life depends on it.
Ride Hard...or go home.

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

I've ridden several and currently own a TL1000S (typical track competition for the 750 then-era 750cc supersports).  The 90's era GSXR's were "fat"...as in actually fat.

To consider the 750 a disapointment, by comparison to it's competition, seems a little...odd.  The bikes a beast, typically superior to all of the previous run of 1000cc rides.  I have actually seen a lot of EX/GS 500 riders step up to a GSXR600 and be complete disapointed with the experience.

FearedGS500

when i step up i'll be going to a CBR600 .. maybe bigger . who knows . that will be in a few years

makenzie71

I'd strongly suggest not going with a CBR...unless you're an s/m kinda person.

My cousin just got a 2006 zzr600 and asked me to drive it home for him and, I was amazed its so smooth and it sounds really nice, it made my gs500 mad but DAMN the zzr600 is pretty quick and it felt lighter too. I could just imagine what a gixxer 600 would feel like.
