So I have a cobra F1r exhaust right now.. :icon_confused:  I don't really like it at all.  It sounds pretty good but it's ugly IMO.  My question is the following.

I have read that the F1r does not require a rejetting.  First of all is this true?  Second of all how would I even know if my bike has been rejetted or not?  I didn't ask the last owner.  it was a track bike before so ALL mods are not really known.  It is pretty much a straight through exhaust so i kind of figured that if most other aftermarket exhausts required a rejet why would this one not?

Basically I really want to get a new exhaust and Im not sure if I can just slap one on or if I will need to rejet. :dunno_white:

If it's a full system it likely required rejetting.  What kind of filter is in it?  Only way to tell if it's been rejetted is to crack open the bowls and look.

it's just the slip-on system but when I took it off the other day you can see right through it so I didn't really see why it would technically make any difference if it was a full system or not because I would assume the full systems only have marginally larger pipes if at all. ?????

makenzie71

oh then that likely wouldn't have really needed a rejet.  You can run straight cans on just about anything without a remap/jet if all else is stock.

The biggest gain in full systems is header design.  Tubing diameter takes the back seat.  A lot of full systems typically run a smaller diameter than what you'll see inside slip-on replacements.

so if I wanted to change cans I could withought any problem most likely?

makenzie71

going from one straight-through baffle-less can to another isn' going to change much.

apex'i cans sound BADASS on twinds...:D

but but but.. not only do I like the exhaust itself.  It also has a sweet texas flag name plate on it.  lol  I found a few on ebay for cheap already..

what would you suggest?  a car exhaust? pshh :icon_razz:

makenzie71

not an entire car exhaust...that would be ridiculous.  But utilyzing a part here and there is totally acceptable.  I wish the apex'i didn't sound so friggen badass...I've got a set of c/f shotgun cans I bough for it that I refuse to use because they just don't sound as good...they're all whiney and shaZam! where as the ss can sounds mean, deep and aggresive.

~I've been assaulting Apex'i with emails requesting a lower profile can for this type of thing...lol.

I just can't understand the appeal of a hugantor exhaust tip on a motorcycle.  I just want a normal looking exhaust.

makenzie71

I'll have a vid up tomorrow of her running around.  There's no appeal in the asthetics...it's all noise.

that's a clip from a while back just for a basic idea of the sound...I've changed it up a lot since, you've seen pics of the work I've done.  She looks a LOT different now and I've adjust it to mount a little higher and stuff.  Adding a little length to the exhaust before the can and sealing it up propperly has changed the tone dramatically...updated clip tomorrow.

sounds pretty good.  So what muffler is that on there?  I still want a D&D but i have to admit that it does sound good.

makenzie71

It's a 2.5" core Apex'i

...someone I made an exhaust for out there got a knock-off...haha...damn things look identicle.

cool, letshear it..

There's a lot of clatter/rattle in it, but you can hear the exhaust in the background.  You'll have to forgive the rattle and poor angle...my camera mount was a folded rag and a bungee chord.
