well i'm gonna shop around and see if any of the junk yards have a r6 rear end i'v read up on some of them and it seems like a good idea . the only thing i see might be a problem is .. is the gs500 subframe not long enough ?

makenzie71

Why would the GS subframe have anything to do with mounting the swingarmd and wheel?  I assume that's what you're talking about.  I also don't really see why you're going this route...looks?

FearedGS500

oh sorry i guess i should have  stated it better. not the rear end as the while/arm . i mean just the tail . the body work .. to give it more of a sport look . i like how the seats are 2 not one

makenzie71

oh gotcha

Ok first...don't use the GS subframe. If you're going to do it, do it right.  Cut your subframe off and weld mounts in place of the old spars.  You can then cut a piece of aluminum plate to bolt to the new tabs that the R6 subframe can tie to.  You might want to hit up a welding shop to get it done but it will be far superior to trying to fit the R6 stuff.

ohhh good idea good idea.. i was looking for a ... cheap way with out to much modding .. bikes only a  few months old :) still underwarenty and all i know doing somthing like that one void  it but

makenzie71

the tail on the gs looks prety good...you should probably not worry about chainging it, especially on a new bike.  Upgrade your brakes or something instead.

it takes 4 spacers welded onto the subframe to adapt a 6 tail,  darkcyde had a good writeup on it on the pariderz.com site but i checked tonight and it was down.  also one of the mods on the uk site has one, and there's pics in that gallery,   my two cents on the idea whould be to get the whole subframe and tail and bolt it onto the gs whare it bolts onto the frame ont he 6.  and for the 200 bones that yoru going to have into this your better off with a set of progressives and a kat shock
the left side of the bike is always from the riders point of view.

Mak's got the right idea-do it right if you're gonna do it. ...but, an old member here had done this but totally ghetto and it came out good. one problem is that the gs subframe is too long I think, and it will show at the bottom edge, particularly where the seat key is. I think I have a write-up on my site for this but no pictures (guy had sold it before he got pictures to me). also check teh UK forum (do a search there) as I know one guy there did it and has a good write-up with pictures.

the left side of the bike is always from the riders point of view.
