Crazy throttle/ brake problem

I'm in need of some help. I dropped my gs500 a few weeks ago. I replaced the signal generator and my handlebars and have it almost fixed.
The only problem now is that the motorcycle wont rev when i use the throttle. Instead it will rev perfectly when I pull in the brake lever. I don't understand what is going on. For some reason the brake lever now works the brake and the throttle. I double checked the wiring and it all seems ok, but its obviously not. Anyone have any idea? Is it just an act of God? Or am I a complete f*@king idiot?

We need to figure out if your problem is an electrical one or a mechanical one.  The brake, although hydro-mechanical, is not going to affect the throttle, which is strictly mechanical.  Since you replaced the handlebars, the first major suspect is throttle cable routing and brake hose routing.  Does the throttle twist clockwise?  Disassemble the throttle/switchgear housing, and make sure the throttle cable is being pulled straight up through the tube and over the throttle slide flange, like a pulley.

That's my buddy's bike, and I was helping him with it today. The throttle twists properly (counterclockwise to rev it up, then it rolls back clockwise to idle). We disassembled the housing, and the cable does appear to pulling pulling straight up and over. There were 2 notches in the throttle where you could attach the ball at the end of the cable. Does it matter which one you attach it to?
