I asked about this before in another topic, didn't get much a response. You're looking for that blueish headlight colour right?

IMO you should go with a H4 Silverstar in stock wattage.  Maybe not as blue as you want but nice bright white.  And yes, the bulb specs should be the same for 1989-2002

I was under the impression the "blue" was caused by the temperature inside the bulb with high end lighting like HIDs.  So unless you're getting HID or high rating bulbs that will actually produce blue/white light - you're just getting some painted blue junk headlight that's probably meant for mr.honda civic with 20" rims and a park bench spolier.

On the cheaper bulbs that say "blue", the actual glass of the bulb is tinted blue.  Now the intensity of the blue light depends on how dark the blue glass is.  If you're holding the bulb and the glass looks like a nice sky blue, then you won't see mnuch of a difference.  These bulbs are in the color temp range of 4000K~5000K at most.

The ones with the really deep blue tint bulbs are around 8000K.  These simulate the HID look the best.

HID bulb actually are clear but the filament inside burns different, producing the highly-coverted look.

Shows that I know absolutely nothing about bulbs. What's a HID bulb?
And where would I find these cheap bulbs with the blue tinted glass?
Anyone know of some comparison pics?

Nix that.  I deleted the catalog.  I'll try and re-download it.  It's about 50mb, so this might be a few...

In the meantime...  In the US, legal color temp is at most 4000K.  Although if you don't go too far above this limit, cops won't even bother you.  I've got 8500K.  No stops yet.

These bulbs are advertised as 5000k temperature.  Notice the very light blue tint.

Here's a color temp chart from www.sylvania.com , the lightbulb people.   Notice that along the black line with all the numbers along the color spectrum?  that's the white temperatures.  Again, according to my research, 4000K is max that is legal in the US.  But the HID systems that are OEM on some cars are legal, cause they came with em.  Actually looking at this chart a bit more closely, the legal max in the US might have changed to around 6000K???  I'm guessing this is due to the popularity of the HID systems being integrated into more and more of the newer cars.  As you follow the black line towards the left, that's where you get to the blueish coloring and sometimes purple.

I don't trust that color chart. You said it is FROM Sylvania? You'd think they'd know there is no such thing as DEGREES Kelvin. Kelvin isn't measured in degrees, it's measured in Kelvin. It'd be something like 5100 K, not 5100oK.

Silly lightbulb folks.

What about degrees fahrenheit, or degrees celcius?

Those ARE done in degrees, but Kelvin is just Kelvin. It's weird like that.

Sorry bout the confusion.  Alpha is right.  Those numbers are in KELVIN not degrees, not degrees kelvin.  I was a bit preoccupied when I wrote that post.

Most of the cheap bulbs that you can buy blow out to fast.  Especially once your past the 8000 k mark.  My personal exp was I had " 9000 K " bulbs they looked really nice made it a bit harder to see at night for some reason, had to replace them twice within 6 months.  If you can afford it just get true HID system it's $250.00.
