So, after much consideration, she finally decided to purchase the zzr (ninja) 250.

I picked it up on Saturday.  2002 champagne colour, and brought it home just before the weather turned really nasty.  Although she's 5 feet nothing, she can more than tippy toe the bike (probably because of the soft suspension).  We'll have to sell the Virago 250 (thank god!  I was never a huge fan of the bike).  I can't wait until the riding season starts.

I'm really glad I didn't decide to go down this path.. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=21801.0.

Although I was hoping the GS would be the right bike, it wasn't for her.  However, in a couple of years I think the SV (lowered and shaved seat) might just be the next step up for her.

Sounds like a great choice.  The littlest Ninja just won the "best gas mileage bike" choice award.  Goes over 160 kph and is a blast to ride (so I'm told).  I applaud it for the vertically challenged.  Ride on...

ditto.  Picked ours up last week.

Mine is a 5'2" noob.
She has a fear for not being able to reach the ground.
She's fresh out of MSF and getting used to it.

I'm assuming that she will eventually step up, but right now she is thinking that we'll put it in the will.

Still babying it for break in, but as a total bike I've been impressed.  At 6'2" it has a small cockpit for me, but other than that it's a blast.

I don't know why anyone would buy a pocket bike or scooter when for $3G they can get a new Ninjette.

I'm thinking of buying the ZZR250 while I'm in canada and bringing it back home with me in a few years. The zzr has different wheels, slightly different styling etc. For what I use my bike for, I don't really need anything else. Now, that multistrada looks pretty sweet, but for 9 grand it should.

The ZZR is a lot niftier.

The 250 Ninja is a great bike...of all the times I've hurt myself on a bike, that one did the most damage. lol

At 5' even, the SV is going to be quite a step up...without lowering it to unsafe levels it's going to be hard for her to flat foot it.  You might look at the Monster 600/620.  They're much shorter and are superb bikes.

I bought my wife a 250 as well awhile back. I ended up riding it more than she did. Stupid fun and easy to learn. Only bad spot is on the hwy trying to pass at 65, gotta drop 2 gears sometimes. Definately head over to the 250 web site and do the front sprocket conversion. Best thing to do. Also hit ebay and get the rear shock from an ex500. Cheap Easy mods that do wonders for the bike.

Got my girl a Ninja500R last year after she passed the MSF.  I have to say that I think we both wish she had gotten the 250 instead.  The 500 is a great bike and she's plenty tall, but she only weighs about 120lbs or so and the 500 is just a little to heavy for her.  oh well, live and learn.
