Here's a link to a good video on how to wheelie.

A good video if you are going to try it anyway.

That was a really good video!  Worth a hundred of the how do I wheelie posts.

Can you power a stock GS up?  I thought you pretty much had to clutch it up...

no you can not power up a stock GS. change some sprockets and its possible, do a jet kit, air filter and exhaust and your chances are better

That's what I figured...  I've been able to lighten the front end under hard acceleration, but it's never really come up...  Clutching it up works though. :icon_confused:

It's not the going up that worries me, it's the coming back down.  If you have to clutch slip to get the GS up, do you have enough throttle to stop the front wheel from landing too hard on the way back down???
GS500F in BLUE because that's the COOLEST color!

Not really...  If you buff-out the front end and have a few power mods, it isn't as big of a deal...  Mine is stock, so...  Yeah...

I've had the front up before, but not more than a few inches...  Anything more than that would be pretty rough to land... Since I bottom out on bumps in the road.

check out the wheeile one . i've posted some shots of me doing a few . and its an all stock gs .

You won't come down that hard. The GS does have enough power to let it land softly. The trick is that as it gets lower, roll on more and more throttle. But not enough to bring the front back up again. Do not just chop the throttle closed when you want to come down. That's when things start getting messy.

I have tried a few wheelies and it definitely wont power up.  I have only reved the engine to like 6k rmps and poped the cluth and it didnt come up.  Maybe you have to get more like 8 or 9k but I didnt feel like it.

dont look at the rpm it dose you no good it will catch you off gard .. i tryed that once and i was like whoa ! you have to go by feel .. slip the cluch just a little once .. just enough to get the front off the ground only a few inch then keep at it tell you feel like your at your peak . ( for what you think is high enough for your skill lvl  . not the highest the bike wll go ) . i mean .. i guess some ppl can go by  looking .. but i do best by feel .. thats why you never here me say . ok at 8k dumpit .. i just know its easyest done at a 5mph roll to 10mph .. any thing after that gets it up but not as easy or as high . just for you guys learning . dont over do it k ? i bought this bike back in nov. its now feb. and i slowly worked my way up . i did not want to trash my bike already so i just worked my way up . once i got confy at doing it at one lvl . then i tryed the next then they next .. now i think i'm at my peak . i just have to learn to conroll it a little better (and not do it on a windy day :P ) i hope to be riding threw a few gears before to long but baby steps is the way to go :) hope to have videos of riding one gear to another soon ! ( i tryed it once .. finaly got it to shift with out the cluch but it was no good :(
