Removing the Saftey Stickers

I was wondering if its a good idea to remove the saftey stickers from the bike?

The little warning stickers they plaster all over the new GS's?

I'd hate to leave them for an extended period to find they fade, peel etc and then when I remove them the paint is a different colour under them.


So is it better to remove them now when the bike is new?
Are they easy to remove?
How do you remove them without scratching the paint?

It used to be an offence to remove the unleaded petrol only sticker, but the RTA (I think) has repealed that law and you can remove that sticker.
Just check that the stickers aren't under the clear coat on the tank.

I think that now you can only get Unleaded fuels in Australia you're probably safe to remove it.


I'm pretty sure the saftey stickers are above the clearcoat, but I'm worried I may end up scratching the paint when I try to remove them.

Anyone have a sureway method of doing so?

Sorry about that, I did a search for "Saftey Stickers" and came up with nothing.

Anyways, I'll give it a shot tommorow..

warm it up with a hair dryer,
clean up with rubbing alcohol or Wd-40
wash well, and again for good luck
dry
then polish

I remove all the safety stickers off all my bikes as soon as I buy them.  I DO NOT remove the emissions tag.  At the registry the inspector told me that bikes that have it removed are flagged for a level 1 inspection.

Thanks guys the hardrier did the trick (on alkl but one which decided to be difficult. So it got the finger nail treatment)

I found you can remove the goo using Mineral Turpentine (which I washed, rewashed, and washed again afterwards with soapy water, before polishing the paint)
