Can you help me identify this part?  It's a thin rod extending up out of the carb body next to the pilot jet.  You can sort of see it circled in this pic:

what is this thing?  I don't see it in the exploded diagram in the Haynes manual or referenced in any of the carb rebuild tutorials online.  How do I remove it for cleaning?

Thanks,

ahh, I see now.  It's a mount for the tube on the float assembly.  Is it supposed to be removeable?

It is not supposed to be removeable.  Do not remove it.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Heh, reminds me of when I used to work on my little VW Rabbit. There were 3 screws on the underside of the fuel distributor. Everywhere I looked they said "DO NOT REMOVE!!!!"....So, when I was brought to the decision of 1.Get rid of car, or 2. Get kicked out of house, I chose to get rid of it.
But before doing so, I unscrewed those three screws, thus separating the fuel distributor in two.
That I can recall, 3 springs hit me in the face, as well as my mashing and destroying weird wax seals and whatnot. It was really quite interesting...

Alright, total tangent, but still...that just reminded me of it  :icon_mrgreen:
