SKIP THIS PART IF YOU DONT WANT A BACKROUND...
So... I got my bike today. I took it around the block a few times (never ridden a motorcycle, or a dirtbike ever before my trip around the block.) got it up to third gear. BTW my block is almost three quarters of a mile with three stop signs.  Well I took my bike to work  to show some people and long story short I ended up dropping it.  I figured that I would drop it sometime in the first few days since I am new so I wasnt devistated.  However it bent the handle bar. So I decided I would fix it tonight while the weather sucks for the next few days.
HERE IS THE IMPORTANT STUFF...
I decided it would be best to disconnect the battery since I had to take the controls off the handle bar to remove it so that I could reshape it. While unscrewing the screw for the negitive teminal it started to spin freely as if it had been entirely unscrewd but the screw wouldnt come out.  So I tried screwing it back in and it wouldnt go back in either.  The bike isnt getting a charge from the battery now so I wont be able to start it after fixing the handle bar... ANY IDEA'S? Did the battery corrode the screw?  Anyway, I have a new battery (the old one was dead when I bought the bike so I thought I should replace it even if it charges) coming in a few days so either way I have to get that screw out.

Thanks as always for your help guys. And yes I know I probably shouldnt have ridden the bike without the MSF class but I was so excited to have it  ;).

The posts on the battery aren't threaded.  There's a small nut captured under each one that the screw threads in to.  Make sure that those nuts are in place, and that they aren't rotating as you try to remove the screw.

and yea, take the damn class.  Riding without a license or insurance is just stupid.  Don't be a squid.

Its both registered and insured... I bought the bike because its was a great deal and I wanted to ride in the spring.  I just got my permit so like I said I dont know what I am doing... Thats why I wont go above 30, outside of my neighborhood, or on a main road.  The class dates near me havent been posted yet and the classes in near me are based off of a lottery because there is so much demand but either way, I am going to take the class.  Also what the hell is a squid (obviously not a flattering term)?

Ha A squid is bascially someone who rides stupid..... either without a liscence, rides a bike that is too much for them, doesnt wear gear, or trys to do stunts and doesnt have the slights clue what they r doing.
