  Just a curious question.  I know it's totally subjective but when are you not considered to be a noo-b ??



What does it say in the manual goshdarnit..!!   O0

After a year of riding.

And I do mean RIDING. Unlike my Harley neighbor who takes his bike only out for parades.

He's a perpetual newbie.

This Year of Riding Rule is retracted under the following circomstances:

- If you go on a motorcycle trip and sleep under a bridge or sleep in the Iron Butt Hotel - If you have to ask what the Iron Butt Hotel is, chances are you're still a newbie  ;)

- Have an accident (and survive)

- Ride in snow

- Ride in 4 hours of rain (deluge)

I think there are different levels of noobyness. You are always learning so there is no definate boundary.

The ONLY riders that think they have nothing left to learn are squids.

Motorcycle statistics are a lot like aviation statistics.  US accident rates are initially high with a decrease over a couple of years, then tend to show a period of increase until they again decrease.

Maybe there are two Noob stages, initial and a second after a good scare.

I've been riding for a year and a half...I've put somewhere between 5-10k miles on two bikes. I feel as though it's going to take at least another 5-10 years and another 50k miles or so before I begin to believe that I *might* be STARTING to know what I'm doing.  ;)

I think that the standerds for noobness are arguable.
Of coarse I wouldn't know anything about this area since I was only voted the 3rd best noob.
You would have to ask aaron or NiceGuy since they are the kings on this particular subject.  :laugh:

....that's just a recipe for disaster.....perhaps better is "I never plan on crashing".....see....if you plan on never crashing, that means that you deliberately concetrate, focus, and think about crashing (by way of not doing it).....and as a result, you will crash....kinda like look where you want to go....

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?
