Hiya. I searched and saw many posts on this topic, but I wanted further clarification, so hopefully another post won't upset too many people.

My battery is all but dead, and I would like to put in a sealed replacement.  There are no walmarts by me, but there is sears/straus auto, etc..  Would anyone recommend one that fits and is available from those retailers, or  a good online place?  My main question, however, is this.  Most likely a larger sealed battery will have to be fit on its side.  Will it make putting the battery on a tender or jumping it more difficult because the contacts are harder to reach?  Would I need to pretty remove the battery every time I need to attach a tender or jumper clamps to it?

Thanks and enjoy the w/end

Most battery tenders come with a 'dongle' that stays permanently attached to the battery.  To recharge just hook the end of the dongle to the connecter on the charger's cable.  So no, you won't have any difficulty using a tender on a sealed battery.  You only have to attach the dongle once.

As far as finding a sealed battery, the only one I've ever seen listed here by model# is the Walmart one - Everstart ES-12BS.  Sears or another place might be able to run that number and find a suitable match.  Or you could just look for any 12v, 11 amp/hr. sealed battery with similar dimensions to the stock battery.

For what it's worth bikebandit.com carries a non-sealed replacement for $27.  It fits right into the box and the vent tube is on the correct side.  That's half what the ES-12BS costs, so that's what I went with.

Thanks.  Are you talking about the Bikemaster Yumicron / YB10L-B2 from bike bandit?  If I understand correctly it needs to be filled with acid once arrived, right?

If I may be so bold, might I suggest that you do yourself a favor and don't even think of buying a Wal-Mart Neverstart.  I've had nothing but bad luck with WalMart batteries over the years, and I've had quite a few.  The most recent was just replaced about 2 weeks ago.  It was a little over 3 years old, and still under warranty, but I said f#@k it and went to a local battery store and bought a decent one.  A warranty is no good when you've stalled at a stoplight, your car won't start, and you have to push-start it across 3 lanes of traffic.  Ask me how I know....
Sorry, I won't answer motorcycle questions anymore.  I'm not f%$king friendly enough for this board.  Ask me at:

I thnk I am gonna go with the bikemaster battery from bike bandit, considering that I have to get something else from them, so it will come in one shipping charge.  Could you please walk me through the process of filling / charging a dry battery?  I have a battery tender plus that delivers a 1amp/hr current and drops once it senses that the battery is charged.  Will this charger do it, considering that it has noi way to adjust the current?

Sometimes the search responses can be a bit overwhelming, or not provide exactly what we need! No worries about upsetting folks; ask what you need to!  :thumb:

Walmart sealed battery dropped sideways works plenty fine ... just need to account for it hitting the brake master cylinder bracket and take the required precaution ... As for dead batteries from wal mart ... never had that in several years ... but I ride the POS everyday so may never have that happen to me ...
Cool.
