I'm not going to go into a dealer rant.  I just think I should find someone that actually earns what I pay them.

I'm in Bryan/College Station TX.  Looking for a good Suz and Kawa dealership or even a good independent shop within a couple of hours of here.
If you know of one, let me know.  Preferably one with which you have had pleasant or even tolerable experience.

This is probably a very localized problem so you may want to email me instead of loading the forum.

All help appreciated.

Thanks

Woods Fun Center here in Austin isn't that bad. The guys in the service department are pretty good, and the salesmen are nice guys too. Huge shop, worth checking out if you want.

If you were a little more north I'd suggest Honda of Lubbock...they hooked me up with a $30 roller chian for $18 otd...plus they're super friendly and typically quite helpful.

What type of work are you looking for?  I used to live in B/CS.

I usually did my own work, but went to a place called Danny's Motorcycle Service for tire changing.  It was a small shop, looked like they worked on track-bikes too.

Check with http://www.tamumc.org and post on their forum.

Thanks all.

I'll probably check out Danny's, it still shows up in the yellow pages.

I've been having a running problem with the competency of one of the shops.  Currently all I am looking for is someone that can do the scheduled maint.  I can do the work myself, but I've wrenched enough over time and if I could tell that they were actually doing the work, I would be happy to pay them to bloody their knuckles.  Might just make it part of my joy of motorcycling.  Cussing a machine is better than cussing a person, you get a better response.

M&M Power Sports (KTM/Triumph/Aprilia) appeared fairly responsive, but in the past two weeks they closed the doors and emptied the store.  Story I heard was $800,000 in debt.  Seems like a big number for a strip center dealership, but if someone is skimming enough cash...

Alpha:
Austin is a decent run, I'll probably run up a couple of times this year anyway.  I'll check them out if I'm near a work schedule.

Grew up in WTx and love the open country, but I don't think my wife would understand a 2 day road trip to have 2 hours of work done. Or does she have to know???  Thx

Codger,

I was just up in College Station yesterday, and talked to a guy I knew in the motorcycle club about this very subject.  There have been many problems with Action Sports, but most people seem pretty happy with Greathouse Motorsports.  Greathouse recently moved to behind the Shipley's Donut on Villa Maria, and a few employees participated in weekly meetings with the newly (re-)formed Texas A&M Motorcycle club.

Thx Xtall,

Apparently we have all had similar experiences in Aggieland.
Stopped by Greathouse when looking for my second first bike when they were downtown.  Haven't had any specific experience with them.  I'll check them out.
Had an inspection done at M&M, doesn't prove much, but they didn't give me a reason to doubt their competence.

Appreciate it.

Probably chiming in late but there is a new shop in town called pro cycles.  They seem very friendly and helpful.  Small shop kind of like Danny's
